Should I change my dates??

Starting rethinking my dates today while I was at work. We have been planning on going to DL from 10.30-11.3, with 3 days in the parks. I am now reconsdering for a few different reasons. The dates I am considering changing too are 10.26-10.30, with still 3 days in the parks. Reasons for my thinking: 1) The days of the week. Halloween is a Friday, and worried about being too crowded, although not that big of an issue. We were planning a Fri, Sat, Sun, park day, now considering a Mon, Tue, Wed park days 2) If we go before Halloween, we can use our costumes there, and again on Halloween at home. 3) I want to go out and party with my friends Halloween weekend!! 4)On Halloween last year, my brothers best friend was killed. I kinda feel guilty going to DL to have fun on that day (RIP) . I would like to still be nearby if my brother decideds he needs me for something, or if they do something in memorandium for him.

I was worried about not getting the great rate on our room still, but that ended up not being a problem, that worked out well. DH would have to miss 1 more day of work (3 instead of 2), and I would just take the whole week off and return to work on Monday Nov. 3.

What do you think??

you still trick or treat in costume? Are you < 13? I wouldn't worry about #4. I went to work yesterday even though 3000 people died 7 years ago. Life goes on.

The thing I would look at also is the park hours and what you might want to see entertainment wise that won't be offered by cutting out the 3 "weekend" days.

We try to avoid any Saturday at all cost on all of our trips due to crowds, but we usually arrive on a Sunday or leave after Friday to have extended park hours at least one day durning our trip, especially in the off season when the park normally closes at 8pm vs midnight.

I do agree with not spending Halloween in the park though, your kids might prefer to be able to do both....Disney and Trick or Treating. I know mine would!

I will not trick or treat in costume, but the kids will.

And you are right, life does go on, but his does not. He was a long time family friend, like a brother to me, like a brother to my brother, his best friend. His life ended on Halloween because of stupid people. (He was shot 5 times). Yes, I did my thing on 9/11 as well, even though 3000 people died 7 years ago, but none of those people directly effected me. Does that make sense?? They effected the country becuase of what happend, but I knew none of them.

silence- not worried about the entertainment schedule. The only thing we really wanted to see isnt going to be there even on the weekend, electrical light parade, or F!. I am greatly leaning toward the weekdays now.

Sory, Didn't mean to come off as heartless. I didn't know that you knew the deceased. I didn't know he was a family friend, I though it was your brothers friend. Personally, I don't know any of my brothers friends. Nevertheless do you think your brothers friend would want you to change your plans? If anything you should check with your brother to see if he has anything planned. BTW, Halloween in Disneyland is awesome. I used to spend Hlloween there every year, as a kid, when I used to live in SoCal!

If it were just me going, I'd much prefer to go on weekdays, just to avoid crowds.

But with kids we tend to include at least one weekend in the trip to cut down on the number of school days missed. Also, weekends offer more in the way of entertainment, including the number of characters out. (We have missed some cool characters because we didn't realize they were only out on the busier weekend days.)

If your kids are older and, like my DS8, all about the rides, I'd definitely switch to weekdays.

Could you possibly change it to 4-day hoppers and come in a day early, on Sunday afternoon? The only reason I suggest this is so you have a chance to see fireworks. Although, there again, at that time of year there's always the chance they could be canceled due to high winds.

Then I say change your dates to the weekdays and let the kids have fun trick or treating. Like I said, we typically go during the week to avoid as many crowds and lines as possible!
