Should I change my date?

My daughter is a competitive cheerleader. We have dates booked for a cruise August 28-31, and then wde from August 31- sept 4.
I have just learned she will be on two teams next season, and that their big choreography dates are the week of August 28-sept 5.

We have all our perfect dining set, and dvc booked. I can move the dvc booking, but it is tough to get the dates we need. We are thinking of just banking all our points, and using them to take the kids to aulani in 2017- and then paying cash for a free dining booking sept 21-25 with a cruise before this. Dining is slim pickings, but I can get some ok reservations. Cost is the same.

So- move the booking and lose my great plans and dining( along with my dvc booking and magical deal for my parents) or just keep it?

Do you have any family or close friends your DD can bunk with while you and the rest of the family travel? I'm sure she'll realize that being a competitive cheerleader involves some sacrifices for the sake of her art.

Haha- she is 9 so sacrifice isn't much in her vocab;)

If cheering is that important (and I assume it is if she is on 2 teams) change your vacation plans.

Is the choreography session even optional? I would think she'd be required to be there. If she isn't, and there really are no repercussions for her not being there then keep your family trip as it is. But I would really be sure first

I dont think anyone can answer that for you. This is something that your family needs to assess based on the importance of each to your family.

Most competitive teams have requirements of attendance. Have you checked into that? Will she be cut from the team by missing the choreography? If so you need to decide what is more important to you and to her.

My daughter has cheered since she was 3 and is currently 12. Every All Star gym choreography is mandatory attendance. Most will cut you from the team if you do miss. My daughter's gym is pretty nice and they say if you can't be there it is the cheerleader's responsibility to find a "stand in" (which has to be from a different team in the same gym and be there on all scheduled days/times) to learn the choreography for the missed days and the stand in teach them what they missed. At 9, on 2 teams, I do not think that is a good idea. My daughter at 12, I would never plan anything during choreography.

Thanks all! We ended up moving our trip. I told her that she had to chose between doing two teams and committing to them or moving the trip. She chose to move the trip. I managed to get almost all of restaurants we had booked, albeit not at all the idea times. We moved our cruise to next fall.
