Should I change FP to GMR?

We are heading to WDW in September. Right now I have all my Tier 1 FPs for DHS for RnRC. Seeing how they may announce a ride change at D23 this weekend and now permits have been filed, it looks like GMR may be changed up. I originally thought we would try for a 4th FP at GMR, but now I'm worried it may be crowded with people trying to see it one last time before it changes. Should I change one of my FP+'s to GMR? We will be at DHS on a Thursday morning and Friday afternoon/evening.

Keep your FP for RnR. 99% of park goers won't know anything about GMR possibly being changed, and 90% wouldn't care even if they did know. GMR is ridiculously easy to get as a 4th FP.

ETA: We rode PoC the day before it went down for its lengthy refurbishment. I thought it might be more busy, but nope. The next day, it was closed, and every time I walked by, people were asking the CM what time that day it would reopen. Most people don't have any idea about stuff like that.

I highly doubt that it would close that soon. Next year is probably much more likely or later this year. Besides, the wait for RnRC compared to GMR is night and day. If anything, the time you'll save with your RnRC FPs will make any wait for GMR better.

This reminds me. In 2007, on our first Epcot day, we walked to spaceship earth, but decided not to ride as the line was really long, we were hungry and tired, and were coming back to Epcot the next day (and would be there like 3 more times that trip), so they're would be plenty of opportunity to ride.

Well, that day was the last day of the Jeremy irons narration. Next day we arrived at Epcot to find spaceship earth behind walls.

That was our family's first wdw visit, so we never got to see the Jeremy irons version.

We were in MGM on July 2nd. So, this announcement hadn't been made but it was still a very crowded time in the parks, relatively speaking. I got us GMR as 4th FP for late-morning no problem. I completely agree with the PP who said most people won't know about this.
