Should I cancel Sci-fi?

If you have never been, don't cancel. It's worth the experience at least once. The food is as mediocre as you've probably heard, but nothing beats the atmosphere. Think of it as an attraction more than a meal, and you'll leave satisfied.

Wow, I guess I'll keep it! We never did table service as a kid and Sci-Fi was the one place I always wished my parents would take us. We are a burger and shake type family so hopefully we'll love. Thanks everyone!

Here's another vote for keeping Sci-Fi. It's one of our favorite places to go each trip, more for the atmosphere than the actual food. Maybe try going in just for shakes and sodas if you want to use a counter service credit, which is what we did in December. The Sci-Fi trailers and the fact that it's so quiet make it a really nice place to stop off for a bit in the middle of the day.

Can you use counter service credits at Sci-Fi and just get shakes/sodas? Do I still need to make a ressie?

It's a table service restaurant, so you cannot use counter service or snack credits there. If you just want drinks, you'll need to pay for them unless you want to use a TS credit for just drinks.

We tried Sci-Fi last week for the first time. We just walked up and were seated in less than 20 mins. There were three of us and they put us in the first two rows of a car. I loved the atmosphere, but the choices were very limited. I just looked over the menus on Allears and it looks like lunch has more choices. I enjoyed it and would definitely go back (for lunch, so I( can try the burger).

It's actually going to be my husband, my daughter and me. I just forget to mention to him b/c he eats wherever I say we are eating. So how will the seating work with 2 adults and one child?

Also are ressie is for 11:15 and Mama Melrose is 4:35

We just went to Sci-Fi for the first time on our recent trip and we really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend lunch over dinner - we ended up there at dinner time and I would have preferred some of the selections on the lunch menu (which I perused while we waited for a table).

HOWEVER, my DH wanted a hamburger (which is NOT on the dinner menu) and when we asked, the waitress said they serve it for dinner upon request only (and the price was the same as the lunch price! :thumbsup2) I don't know if this is standard or the luck of the draw with your server, but we were happy about that.

As for the seating, we were a party of 3 and there was a smaller car (2 rows) in the back - me and DD sat in front and DH sat in back. We could still see the screen just fine. DD said it was the favorite part of her day and she thought it was a blast. We probably wouldn't do it every trip, but I'd definitely go back on a future visit.

Just went to Sci Fi a few days ago. Like many, I have debated each trip and never went. I am so glad we went. Definitely give it a try!

It was such a relaxing meal. It is quiet and dim. The clips are really cheesy/funny. The food wasn't bad at all. We went with what others had told us were the good things. The big hits were the Oreo shake, onion rings, and the burger. The ribs weren't bad with the beans and coleslaw, but the spinach dip just didn't have much taste to it.

They definitely serve burgers at dinner, you just have to ask because they are not on the dinner menu. That is what we had also.

, if not using ddp, they might try to put you at a table instead.

This is so not the case. Why if not on the DDP would someone think they would put you at a table and not a car. :confused3 Makes no sense.

We just ate at Sci-Fi the beginning of December (without the DDP) and we were seated in a car. When we checked in, the hostess asked if we wanted a car , a table or first available.

DS and DH had the burger. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. All yummy!

Don't cancel. My kids love the Sci-Fi.

I have to disagree with most of the posters to say that IMO the food at the SciFI is HORRIBLE!!! My worst meal ever at WDW. We really felt that we wasted our DDP credits by going there. We wished that we would have paid OOP and just got some things to share and maybe a milkshake. The atmosphere was kind of cool but the novelty wore off pretty soon. My vote is that you can do better.

I could have sworn they told me this in June but it might have just been that night. They were 2 hours behind on ADRs and when I asked, they told me everyone on DDP would get a car. I could shorten my wait time by sitting in a table instead. So, like I said, it might have just been that special circumstance. Sorry.

We eat at Sci-Fi every year for the past I don't know how many years. We have never been forced to eat at a table even when we visited during Star Wars Weekend in June.

Its a shame the PP was FORCED to eat at at a table. Make sure to wait for a car no matter what the hostess says.

I'm sorry "paintnolish" doesn't seem right. The whole experience is the car.

I am confused...yes, the car makes the experience. Yes, I ate in a car every time I dined there (5 times so far). I said the hostess might have been referring to that specific evening, given the circumstances. I had to wait over 2 hours for my ADR. She told me that since I had DDP they were trying to give me a car, but I could shorten my wait by taking a table intead. I did not opt to shorten my time by sitting at a table. She never "forced" me into a table- she gave it as an option if I did not want to wait for a car, since most people do want a car (and rightfully so).

From this post, it made it seem like you sat at the table. At least to me it did.

The car is fun but I don't think I would have waited 2 hours for one. Your choice I guess. I still can't figure out the whole DDP comment. It makes no sense. What does being on the plan have to do with what seat you get?
And when I said forced I didn't mean it literally. :rolleyes1

The Sci-Fi was a must do for my kids, they loooooooooove it! Pizza planet yech! not a fan. I really do not care for any of the food at HS, I would save my cs credits for MK or Epcot they have better CS meal IMHO.

My family really likes Sci-Fi. My daughters, 8 and 11, want to visit on our next trip. The food is good, but not exceptional. The atmosphere, however, is worth the time. It is a nice break from the heat of the park. The kids usually take the "front seat" while DH and I sat behind them. They have a blast watching the movie clippings and we feel like we almost have a meal to ourselves while still enjoying the kids reactions to the Disney magic. Good meal, great atmosphere - I say keep the reservations!

It was our worse meal at Disney World. They keep the room cold. They were slow as molasses. And the food was about like eating at McDonalds. I dislike McDonalds.

Sorry if my response was confusing---what I meant was that if the OP wanted to use a counter service credit at Pizza Planet, I would do that and still go to Sci-Fi and pay OOP for sodas and shakes.
