I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting my DD9 check herself out of the kids clubs and since she would be there with DS6 anyways, there would be no point. And since they wouldnt be anywhere on their own, I won’t bother giving them charging privileges. My DD9 tends to be scatterbrained and would most likely put her KTTW card down (even if it was on a lanyard) and lose it! On our WDW trip a few months ago, she kept putting her Minnie ears in the basket on rides. I was reminding her every ride to grab them back out until she lectured me on how she was old enough to remember and I didn’t need to remind her! So a short while later as we’re walking off Space Mountain into the gift shop, she goes “Oh no! My ears!” We backtracked all the way down to the unloading area and told a CM, then a train pulls up and somebody reaches into the pocket and pulls out her ears and tells the CM that someone left them behind!! I told my DD that she got VERY lucky!!! Lol!At 9yo, you could give your DD self-checkout privileges from the Oceaneers Club, and in that case, you would want her to have her KTTW card with her in order to access your stateroom. But I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a 9yo self-checkout and especially not on a first cruise. My DD was 11 on our first cruise and I did allow her self-checkout when she was in the Oceaneers Club/Lab, but she also attended the Edge which doesn't restrict checkout so it made sense she would have the freedom at the Oceaneers spaces too.
DD has always been allowed charging privileges on her KTTW card, but she knows she has to check with me before buying anything more than popcorn or a smoothie.
