Should I buy a Kiosk?

I have been playing VMK with my DD12 for just a month. We're having a great time. DIS pals have been great helping us with some inventory, trading, and general info. :goodvibes

I see such great trade lists, but often people prefer credits by kiosk. Three weeks ago I couldn't imagine having 30K to buy one, but I slowly amassed my little fortune ;) and now I could. Of course it would wipe me out -- at least temporarily.

So should I buy the kiosk now?
Or maybe wait until I have a bigger balance so the 30K won't wipe me out?

What do you all think? All opinions welcome. :flower3:

Of course it's up to you, but I would say wait a bit because we are still not sure what the big expensive mystery magic (lol) is that may be released by the end of this month. It never fails, you spend a big chunk of your credits and soon after something is released that you want to buy...

I would wait. There is supposed to be some big expensive thing at the end of this month. I made the mistake of buying one at the beginning of this month before anything was announced so I've been working like crazy to get my number back up there. So I would wait until you see whatever this is supposed to be just in case you'd like one or more.

Edit: You beat me to it Pirate! lol

I agree with the previous poster. I would wait until the magic releases are over first. But I don't think getting a kiosk for credit trading is safe in general. People can get scammed on either side of a kiosk trade.

heres a 3rd. You might be crushed if something expensive comes out during this next week. I think once magic month is over and you still have that 30k its a great investment ;)

i agree with everyone. Wait for a bit. yavn said something huge would be coming out, and most of us are guessing flying carpet magic full use, or treasure detector magic full use, and most of us think it'll cost a ton. so save your credits, and keep earning :)

You may have to wait a while for it to happen again (or maybe forever), but at one time the Quest Kiosk went on sale for 15k

I'm going to wait until magic month is over. Right now I have 100k saved up
and I'm still not spending anything until I know what that big magic is coming
up and how much it costs.

Thank you all for your replies. It seems that it's unanimous advice that I should wait. (And how often do we see unanimous anything on the DIS??? :lmao: )

I had forgotten about that big end-of-month item!

Thanks again! :)

I agree with everyone else. I'd wait until Magic Month is over. Which may not actually be the end of January. :confused3

We are all in agreement that possible full use Magic Carpet or Treasure Finder will be very expensive. I've been trying to get my boy character up to 100k just in case. I still have another 26,230 to go. :headache:
Really wish they had left HM at double credits.

Also, as stated, trading credits through a kiosk is risky for both sides. So, I would never buy a kiosk just for that purpose. I also use mine for storage and on occasion an actual quest. :)

I hope to use the kiosk for quests some day too. But I think it will be a while before I am ready for that challenge.

What did you mean when you said you also use the kiosk for storage?

I agree with the posters above, I would wait. I do want to state tho that you never know when an item like the kiosk will be removed. Historically it was removed twice from the shop if I recall and a price change happened as well. Not to scare you, but just want to prepare you for that possibility as well.

As for storing items in the kiosk, they do not recommend it but people do it. Before we all became the blue spin people (which brought some enhancements to our inventories) if you had alot of stuff you were weighted down and not able to trade. So people used the kiosk to store pins or clothing. The trick is to know your kiosk. Each prize row on a kiosk can store 20 items. In addition, you dont want to go more than 75 prize rows. Thats 1500 items you can store.

Going above 75 prize rows, people have lost items to never return to their inventory. To be honest tho, since the inventory problem is resolved, I personally dont feel the need to store stuff in my "spare" kiosk. Sure wish I could trade it tho <Hint VMK>.

A kiosk is an expensive item to buy just for the purpose of trading credits, and as others have said, trading credits is risky.

I've managed to get by just fine with offering "shopping sprees" instead. If you're buying more than one trade window's worth of items, you still need to be careful when trading it, but in general this works very well. It's wise to have your trader meet you at the shop before you buy the items though; you don't want to blow your credits on stuff and then not have them follow through.
