Should I book Jiko?

I have booked Jiko and we are paying OOP for it. I booked it for 8.30pm on Sunday the 26th of August. This is a few days into our AKL stay. I will likely go for the filet with Mac and Cheese, sounds strange to me, but I love filet. Jiko consistently gets great reviews and as it's our honeymoon, I thought, why not?

The filet with mac and cheese may sound strange, but it's quite possibly the best single dish I've had in my life. I can't wait until September 30th, when I'll be eating there again.

I would dump Artist Point and put Jiko in it's place. Jiko is our favorite place to eat at WDW. We have eaten there many times and never been disapointed. On our last visit I had the Lamb Shank and it was FANTASTIC.
We have eaten at AP twice and been very disapointed both times. There food just does not come close to Jiko. :)

You're making a *GREAT* choice booking Jiko. I am a picky eater and absolutely LOVED it! I had the filet and mac & cheese dish and was surprised at how good it was. You wouldnt' think that these two items would match up in one meal, but WOW --- awesome!

Hey Summer, I'm curious - what dates are your ADRs?! We're at WDW 17th-27th August and a few of our choices are the same :)

Love, love, love Jiko's :goodvibes . It is mine and hubby's favorite restaurant. The beef short rib is excellent.

Any inside tips for dining at JIKO? Favorite seating areas? What is not to be missed (not just the main course, but the before and afters too)?

I would never book Jiko over AP. I love AP! Definatly keep AP on your list.

I'm in the minority here, but I have never really liked Jiko. The first time I ate there, I didn't think the food was that great, though there were one or two things I really liked. Then on my second trip, the service was pretty bad. The food wasn't so great then either.

It's strange that I don't like Jiko, even though I love its neighbor Boma.

For apps. the Lamb Patis is my favorite (and I don't even like lamb), the flatbreads are also excellent. Entrees, the Filet w/mac & cheese is awesome.
I love the flourless chocolate cake for dessert.
The only thing we really did not love was The Taste of Africa, it isn't bad just not up to par with everything else. IMHO

It is my absolute favorite restaurant in all of WDW. The food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is very romantic. The waitstaff is very attentive.
