So when I made our PS for Ariel's Grotto they asked if it was for a birthday or anniversary. I told them it was my parent's 45th anniversary. Does this now mean they will get special attention? I think it would be funny, but my dad on the other hand.....well he will be slightly embarressed and I will have the video camera going

Does anybody know why they wanted to know/will anything be done?:confused3
Thanks guys!

I do know all the waiters come and hover around the table and sing.... We saw that happen many times during lunch a month ago.

That is awesome! 45 years married, and to the same person! :) ;) seriously, though, my hats and toupee off to your parents, what with a 40% divorce rate in this country, it is wonderful to read about an anniversary such as theirs!
I personally do not want anyone singing at my table for my birthday, or any other type of event, unless the singer is Madonna, or Chris Isack, The Rolling Stones, Pat Benatar, Johnny Depp, hey he sings! and my list continues..... :) he he!

You don't ask for much do you?:rotfl:

I am pretty happy about my parents still being together after 45 years.  And not only are they still together, but they like each other too!!

Wanted to add that my dad will be embarrassed about the singing, but mom will LOVE it!

I know you are going to Ariel's but this was my PS/birthday celebration experience for character dining -

When I called to do a PS for Goofy's last year, they asked me on the phone if we were celebrating any special days. I told the guy that it was sort of a combo b-day celebration for three people and he very enthusiastically typed it in the computer. I wasn't sure what they would do at Goofy's but I knew one of my friends would be okay with extra attention and the other would not. I didn't want to scare off the friend who wouldn't like it so I didn't tell them. When we arrived at Goofy's and went up to pay before being seated, the lady at the register pulled up my PS info on the computer and loudly said, while reading the notes in the system, "Oh, you are celebrating THREE birthdays?" Well, I didn't actually want my friends (especially the one) to know that they had anything planned, but the lady spoiled the surprise! My friends were confused.

So then we got seated and ate our yummy food, and there were not many characters that day. It was kind of slow. The characters who were there just kind of walked through the room and waved, never stopping at the tables. We sat and sat, and nobody every brought over a b-day pin or cupcake or anything. They even knew we were getting ready to leave. Finally, we left. It was when we went back to Goofy's the next time a few months later and they saw my other friend wearing a b-day button that they brought over the b-day cupcake!

Fortunately, we had been to Goofy's dozens of times before and knew this was just an off day for them. We still love Goofy's, HOWEVER their b-day cupcake - when they finally brought to my friend in December - was NOT good. Beware of the cupcakes at Goofy's. They taste like they have been sitting in a storage room for a month. Everything else is great there but not the cupcakes..

Oh, I don't plan on telling my parents! Don't want to scare off dear ol' dad:scared1: ;) . It will be fun no matter what. I will get anniversary buttons for them to wear. They haven't been to the land since their honeymoon, do you think that they could be considered "first timers" since it has been so long? If so, I would get them those buttons too.

Just beware though that when you go up to pay (I assume Ariel's has everyone pay up front like at Goofy's, but I may be wrong!), the person pulling up your PS info on the computer may 'announce' the celebration before you have a chance to stop it, and your parents could overhear, like what happened with us at Goofy's. Try to make sure they are a good distance away from you when you go up to the register!

You know, Disneyland is very lenient - even unconcerned - with the actual dates of things. We had a whole debate going on the thread about the birthday buttons. They really don't care. Not everyone can get there on their actual birthdays but they still celebrate at the parks. So I feel they should get buttons. As for your parents, I have a feeling Disneyland would think it was sweet that they are coming back - and it is basically like the first time all over again because the park has changed so much. It can't hurt to try for the buttons. I don't think DL will have any trouble giving them to your parents. I think it boils down to how confident you feel in asking for them and stating that this is "basically like the first time" for your parents. I think DL will pretty much hand out buttons to anyone who wants them. But your parents will have a great time with the anniversary buttons because everyone will be wishing them Happy Anniversary throughout the parks, in the oddest and darkest of places, and that is very amusing for a while. Those Cast Members have eagle eyes!
