Should i be responsible or fun?

Thanks Guys for the pep talk, My hubby and i have discussed it and we are still going .... not the beginning of October hopefully November or December....
I have been very weary of october weather for some reason...i just feel like we are going to be going at the tale end of a hurricane or whatever so to ease my mind im going to research into November/Dec and scale back our trip from 8 days to 5 days and we are going to make the most of it
My little one is still young so even if we just focussed on a few parks and save some of the rest for the next time we will have fun no matter what!

The bedroom set has been bought the bathroom/bedroom is going to be quoted and we will worry about it all later!
we have good jobs just suck at saving and no, my hubby is in no way handy! so we will have to have a contractor fix this mess..... it all looks good on the outside but we know for a fact its rotten on the inside and my dd just got diagnosed with asthema so im not messing around with mold and mildew....

we will bite the bullet and go....
no i have to replan it all any suggestions when we will most enjoy the time of year and still be value season? We have 213.00 airfare CREDIT that will expire by feb 15 so we need to use it by then....

Have a great time.

Personally, I'm one of those people who can't sleep at night if I don't have six extra months of living expenses in the bank and all the bills paid.

I'm pretty much the opposite of Bubba73. We took very few real vacations as kids, but I still have great memories of summers, local trips and visiting relatives. But where a lot of my friends are still paying their college loans twenty years after graduation, my Dad paid for my college and spotted me a downpayment on my first home (Thanks Dad).

But everyone is different. I value financial security very highly - other people don't worry about it nearly so much and value vacations much higher than I do.

We are broke but we are going! We started out married and broke at 22, child and broke at 25, going to Disney and still broke at 28, I dont have much hope for being not broke anytime in the next 13 years or then some untill dd graduates college, so we are going to disney when she is in Kindergarden and can miss a couple of days. Everytime I put money in the bank it gets spent on the car or this or that, medical bills you name it, so whats the diff?

I remember twice when I was kid when my father had lost his job right before the summer, and my mother agonized over whether or not to still go on vacation. One of those was a Disney trip, and the other time was a dude ranch. Well, we did go on both trips, my Mom's attitude was "we will survive". And we did. And both of those vacations were awesome trips, with memories to last a lifetime. My father did find a new job and everyhting worked out.

The same thing happened to my uncle, they had finally planned a trip to WDW with their kids, and then he lost his job. They did not go on the trip, and you know what? Their kids are now 19 and 23, and have STILL never been to WDW.

Unless you are danger of losing your home, I would go.

I am glad you are going on your trip! I think everything will work out for the best.

My MIL told me when DH and I were still dating that they choose to take vacations and travel. That is their priority. For some people, it might be their homes, cars, etc. They have been able to take DH on some great trips, Italy and China, for example.

DH and I do not have kids yet, but we decided that before we do we want to travel, I have not been to nearly the places that he has (hopefully that will change). Your priorities may not be the same as others, but that doesn't mean that they are wrong!

I hope you have a wonderful, magical vacation!

My husband and I planned a trip for early May as a birthday surprise for our only son even though we were on a tight budget: two weeks before we were scheduled to leave a local minister asked us if we would be interested in adopting three children. So we changed our trip to June 5-10 and still plan to go before the youngest turns three on June 12 even though we are breaking the budget as we adjust to new expenses and get these other children up to speed. But I really think that this trip will be a great way to start our new lives together. If need be, I will cook.

I think that the fact you have an airline credit you would lose out on and your child will be free to get in are great reasons to go now and deal with the other things as you can.

Once you have another child EVERYTHING gets more expensive, including vacations, so take one now while you can still do it, even if it means a little scrimping or putting off here and there. Bedroom furniture is not an "emergency". :)
