12/23, 12/24, 12/25 WLV resie? I really prefer to stay all 4 nights at WLV's. However, 1 night at BCV's will enable us to see another resort at Christmas --- therefore, I guess there are pluses and minuses. What are your thoughts ---- we were leaning toward having all 4 nights at the same resort so that we would not have to pack up and go???

Transferring from one resort to another is a piece of cake! I did it in July (YC to SSR) and it went very smoothly. Some suggestions I've learned from the boards here...

Since it's one night at BCV, save yourself some hassle and pack a small bag just for that night so you don't even have to open the big bags...they'll be ready to go in the morning.

Transferring can be done a few ways...the two most common are...

Using WDW transportation...have bell services come collect the bags, tell them you are transferring to WLV and the name on the reservation. They will send your bags over and they'll be waiting for you at WLV. Take WDW transportation to WLV and check in.

Or (and this is how we did it in July) use a taxi to transfer you and everything to WLV. If you check in and your room isn't ready, they will store the bags just like anytime and you can go out into the parks and call to check on the status of the room. When it's ready you can go back, have bell service deliver the bags to the room and you're done. The cost of the taxi might be around $15 including the tip...give or take a few dollars since I can't recall what it cost us.

Or if you have a car, just load up and drive on over to WLV and check in as you would at the beginning of your trip.

IF you have any cold items, they will store them as well when you transfer. A helpful hint if you do have to store groceries, bring along a sharpie marker and some labels...I used the old computer mailig labels. Write your name on a label and attach it to the grocery bag. Be sure to label if it's "FRIDGE", "FREEZER" or "PERISHABLE"...just helps the bell service so nothing is spoiled or smashed.

IF you are using a towncar service for airport transportation, be sure to tell them the names of the resort to pick you up so there's no confusion.

That is all I can think if for now. I'm sure that others will have some suggestions or more info. Oh, and one plus (I think I'm right on this)...staying at BCV you should get to use SAB.

Hope this helps!

I disagree. Save the hassle and stay in one resort for the duration. It is a pain to move... especially if you have a refridgerator full of food. Re-frozen melted ice cream bars are always a favorite :)

Give yourself a non-park day... and check out the different resorts's XMAS decorations. You will be more relaxed... and have a nicer time.

4 days is a little short to have to move. If you have no other choice, then yes, but i would prefer to stay at one resort for such a short stay.

BCV is busy this time of the year and you may not get into your room until 3pm and then checking into VWL the next day and waiting for room to be ready there.

We have a split stay coming up, 7 nights at BCV and 6 nights at SSR over Christmas and NYE, and I like to decorate for Christmas. I'd rather put it all up once and take it down when it is time to leave so Im thinking about that now. Food is another issue with moving, they will refrigerate it for you, but it is still a worry because things can and do go wrong.

If our waitlist comes thru for all nights at SSR, I would switch in a heartbeat, I like to stay in 1 place because packing is packing, no matter how easy they make the move.

The good thing is, you can preplan your packing and you probably dont have as much stuff as us, so if you do choose to move, you can pack accordingly.
And momsgoofy is right, you will get to use SAB on your checkin and checkout day :wizard:

I agree that is an awfully short stay to change resorts. There will be other times to see another resort, and we usually visit them all during a holiday stay, just to see the decorations. It is our usual evening activity. No need to stay there to enjoy the decor.

Stay all four nights in one resort, but set some time aside to check out the decorations elsewhere. Don't know how many meals you will be doing outside the villa, but maybe you can get ressies at some of the resort restaurants and kill two birds with one stone.

I would stay all 4 days at one resort. IMO, moving between 2 DVC resorts is not a "piece of cake" as you are often homeless between the 11:00 AM check-out and your 4:00 PM (or later!) check-in.

Agreed! :thumbsup2

I hate being homeless! Unless you are at a park all day (and even then you are concerned with your room being ready) that time passes very slowly. My mind is not at ease until my stuff has a home.
