Should I add an extra day to our package?

This is kind of budget related...
I really need help deciding what to do. Right now we are scheduled to arrive in WDW on Sunday, 11/28. I booked our airfare on SW the day prices were released for that date. The price I booked at was pretty high - much higher than the $54 a booked each way last year. Anyway, prices on 11/28 haven't dropped but instead keep on increasing. I keep checking the day before, 11/27 and prices are decreasing. Right now if I switch our flights to one day earlier we'll save about $144. I can add another room to our package at the WL for a little over $200. So for a difference of about $70 we can arrive a day earlier. We do have the extra $70 but since our flight would only be arriving at 6:55pm we wouldn't be gaining any extra time in the parks. My DH thinks I should book and pay the extra $70 because he likes the idea of unpacking and getting a good night sleep before our first full day in WDW. Right now if we keep things the way they are, we'd arrive on 11/28 at 9:30am but we'll have to get the kiddos up by 5:00am to get to the airport.

What would you do; keep things the way they are and save the extra $70 or arrive a day earlier?

TIA

I'd pay $70 not to wake up at 5am on the first day of vacation, no question!

I normally plan to fly out the night before our vacation is set to "offically" start so that we are able to get a good nights sleep and actually be there. This year we took a 7am flight which meant we had to be up at 4am and out the house by 4:45am. We got there at 10am but goodness were we tired that day and it seemed it took a few days to recover so I definitely say pay the extra $70 and go the night before!

Definitely do the extra night. And if you are on a dining plan it will give you the extra night's credits.

Don't forget that the Sunday of Thanksgiving Weekend is the heaviest air travel day of the entire year. Saturday is not as crowded.

No Brainer to me, besides there is always DTD for a real nice night before and well rested night. Remember to add the meals for the day before. When we had a later arrival, the Earl of Sandwhich was nice and getting in the vacation mode with surroundings.

:rotfl: Sorry but this is funny. :lmao: I know what you mean, obviously, but :lmao:

I would do the extra night. We did except our flight is leaving at 6am. :rotfl:
I could have got the later flight but dh is like why don't we just get there sooner.

Thanks for your help everyone. I ending up switching our flights and adding an extra day to our package. I think we'll be happy to be more refreshed instead of starting off our trip already tired.

I am actually considering the same thing. It's a great idea. But my DH isn't sure yet if he wants to even go, so we're waiting on that decision first.

We just did the same thing but added three nights to our wedding/honeymoon trip. Made sense as it give's us more time to settle before the wedding and the flights saved us $300. We also had extra DVC points. I think we will like to get in a little later as we always take the 6:30 am flight and instead will be taking the 3:00 pm flight.

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD :) We did the same thing in August. I dont regret it for a minute. It was great to wake up refreshed and ready to spend the whole day at the MK!!pirate:
