Hi,

I already have Crystal Palace planned for dinner on our first night and Chef Mickey's planned for breakfast on our last full day, so something would be good in the middle of our trip. I really like character meals and I've been wanting to check out the Grand Floridian for quite some time, but I just haven't had the time. I'm thinking if I make ADR's for 1900 Park Fare I can both have the character breakfast and check out the Grand Floridian and save some time on pictures. I'm just wondering if this would be a good idea with two boys (10, 13), their grandma (73) and us.

Thanks,
Simon :wizard:

As a first time visitor this September, but heavy post reader, I did the exact same plan as you, except in reverse. We have the same two character meals planned but yours first mine last etc. I also planned 1900 in the middle, however I found out that 1900 will be in renovations, and the character meals will take place in gfc. Problem for me is picky kids when it comes to eating, and it will be set table service.
Dont know when the 1900 will reopen.

I'm going from July 15-21 and I am planning on 1900 Park Fare on July 18. When is it closed?

DH and I were not impressed with 1900 Park Fare's character breakfast. The restaurant was not overly busy when we were there (August '06) and both Tigger and Piglet walked right by our table. Our waitress practically forgot we were there - waited forever to get coffee, etc. The only saving grace was the Mad Hatter, who chatted with us a bit. The food was OK, but IMHO no where near as good as Crystal Palace.

1900 Park Fare was our least favorite buffet/character meal. Absolutely mediocre fare and character interaction was unremarkable. I did not care for the lack of windows and peach walls. It was difficult to tell you were in the GF.

I believe 1900 PF is closing at beginning of July. We are going to miss it when we go in July. This is one of our must do's. We'll definitely be going in November. Can't wait to see what they are going to do to the place.

1900 PF will be getting rehabbed in July, so I wouldn't go. If it weren't I would've said ABSOLUTELY go. It was one of the best character breakfasts we had, Tigger, Alice, Mary Poppins, and the MadHatter were all "ON", as in really in character. The interaction was great and there wasn't 1 kid in our group. The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious, much better than CP IMO.

We were also thinking of booking 1900 Fare for dinner...my daughter really wants to see Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother. Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are wonderful for breakfast. Have you considered the dinner meal instead? My travel agent suggested it.

We did 1900 Park Fare last year for the first time and we were not impressed, crowded, not a lot of food variety, character interaction lacked, Cinderella walked past our table 3 times and never stopped once because of other children and parents not waiting their turns. Our service was slow, there are much better character meals. My kids loved Lilo and Stitch at Ohana's last year!

We are doing 1900 Park Fare on our second evening then the next AM doing the Princess storybook. In addition we are doing Ohana for breakfast and Chef Mickeys for dinner during our stay. This is our first family trip and I don't know how soon we will get back. So I want our kids to enjoy. I say go-for-it.:rotfl:

ENJOY!:upsidedow

We're doing it for dinner in September and I'm happy about the refurb, LOL. Sounds like I'm the only one, but I prefer preplated to buffet. I won't have to keep getting up and down and worrying over missing the characters.

For two boys I think I'd choose something else though. 'Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch is good, but family style with limited options, not buffet with a huge variety. Donald's at AK is buffet, but with basically the same characters as Chef Mickey's. Liberty Tree dinner is good, but again, same basic characters. Hollywood and Vine at MGM is a buffet, but I don't think boys that age would care for JoJo and Goliath and Little Einsteins, they're more for the preschool crowd.

If they're not terribly picky eaters and would be okay with the menu I think I'd go with 'Ohana.

We have been to 1900 Park Fare 2 times. My son likes the kids buffet, and I thought the food was ok. Actually, I really only ate the shrimp pasta, but everytime I went I felt really naseaus afterwards. I think maybe because of a lot of MSG?
Anyway, his favorite place is Whispering Canyon for lunch or dinner. It is so fun, he loves it (and he is 11) and the food is great. There are no characters there, but the way the waitstaff interacts with the guests, and the pony express riding, etc. is just so magical and fun and so Disney!:wizard:
