Should guns get banned?

A gun has one use...To kill.

Not true...some people shoot targets. I've gone to my local gun club and shot. I had a great time.

But, I guess it depends on who you're killing....if you're killing some random person in the street, that's bad...if you're killing the loser who broke into your house, they serve a useful purpose.

Cars are used to commit crimes, too. But, both serve a useful purpose when in the hands of normal, sane people.

And obviously everyone intending to use a gun for a nefarious purpose would run and turn their's in because after all, it would be illegal not to.

Nope, I like my Constitution strong and undilluted - just like my coffee. The founding fathers may not have seen concealable weapons in the future, but I doubt they also saw telephones, the internet, cars, airplanes, etc etc etc all of which are governed under different ammendments. The Constitution is an incredible document because it does not go out of style or need revamping and the few times it does there is a remedy.

Nope. We have a great time target shooting. Haven't killed anyone yet! The deermeat we eat is much healthier for our family than mass-produced beef. And, my GFIL made many of the stocks on the guns we have. Awesome bit of history.

Police officers, security guards and the military are the only people who should be able to carry handguns. Hunting rifles are less of a threat, and, while I personally don't really approve of hunting, I would feel alright about making an exception for guns that are used for sport.

Security guards? I would trust my self over some of those "couldn't get into police academy" security guards any day of the week!

It is a bit worse actually.

No, actually exhaust that diffuses into the atmosphere is nowhere near as harmful as cigarette smoke concentrated in an enclosed room.

I would assume that someone as knowledgeable as you are has some clue of how cattle are raised and slaughtered. And the possibilities for abuse, and contamination to occur. If not, you might want to google it.

Our deer are come from our land, and eat our corn and veggies...I think I will stick with my presumptions. ;)

I just had a "vison". we have a hunting camp in Maine and we have an "out house" well, I just had an awful vison of getting "stuck" in the outhouse with out any gun! haa...were we are...it is always good jto have something. we have run into bear face to face...etc!!!! I guess we could always pull a "lighter" out of a holster instead of a gun!!

when you get stuck in an outhouse with a bear at the door.....what would YOU do!!!
Ban guns........still laughing! :rotfl:

A ban such as that could only work safely if every single gun were taken at once. That's impossible.

I cannot stand the idea that only the bad guys have guns.

I don't own one though I've thought about it. I've got the regular safety issues plus I'm taking anti depressants. So, I won't own a gun right now.

LOL, but it has been reccommended to me that I could get a paintball gun and use marbles. But I wouldn't want to tick off a bad guy.

I'm with wvrevy - there is no need for handguns at all. They should be banned from being sold or manufactured except for those required to carry one like police. I have no problems with hunting rifles, but I cannot fathom people owning a handgun and would not let a child of mine go play at a house where a handgun is present.

Wow. So your kids can never be friends with a policeman's child? Or is the cop supposed to leave the gun at work? Frankly, I don't want my kids playing with anyone who would go into my personal belongings. Maybe the problem isn't so much the gun in the house as the visiting child who hasn't been taught to respect others...

...that could end up transmitting all sorts of diseases to your kids. Where as, USDA beef has standards it must pass before entering the kitchen.

Yum, good ole wild deer. Diseases and all :earboy2:

Yes they can be friend's with a police officers child - only because I believe a police officer would be overly responsible with their weapon. And often it is the gun owners child that plays with a handgun - not the visiting kid. And it is a dang good thing I don't have any kids right now - or I would be highly offended by your post. Maybe you should be taught to respect others and their ideals of child raising.

Whose to say I won't just turn the gun around and beat them senseless with it? ;) :earboy2:

Yes guns should definately be banned! Its nice living in the UK with no worry about guns, whenever I am in the USA its always at the back of my mind that people have handguns and I dont like it at all!

I don't understand why handguns and hunting rifles are different. A criminal can still kill people with a hunting rifle. If there are no handguns, say, for the sake of argument that they all disappeared, the criminals will use the hunting rifles. People will use hunting rifles in their homes in the place of handguns for protection.

Knives are also used to commit crimes....are they next? What about the new wave of criminals using needles filled with who-knows-what? No more needles either? People can build bombs in their kitchens and we're worried about banning certain types of guns??

If someone wants to commit a crime and/or kill people, they're going to do it whether there is a handgun available or not. Our big problem is that these people are out on the streets and not locked up for a good long period of time before they're "rehabilitated" and sent back out into society.
