Stayed at FW cabins a few times. Love FW. Anyway, that the cabins are considered "Home Aways", wouldn't it be great if they were used as part of DVC?
I guess maybe there aren't enough cabins to go around. But it was a good idea!!
:p

I would love that idea!! My DD spent her first trip to WDW in those cabins. We actually spent a few days debating on whether we should stay at FW in May of 2002 or "home" at the BWV's. BWV's won out this time but only because of SAB...(we figure we won't be able to do that much longer:rolleyes: ) I think FW cabins are the best for children. We try to spend at least one day at FW doing all the activities there. Oh yeah, the buffet there is so good!!! The casualness (?) for families is wonderful :p

If they considered all the cabins equivalent to a studio then that would be OK. If they tried to charge it as a 1-B/R, then no way. That would be a big step down for usage of points.

When I compared the two FW was only 24 more pts in May than a 1 bedrm at BWV (std view i think:rolleyes: ) If you compare....BWV sleeps four whereas FW sleeps 6. Seems to be much cheaper than a two bdrm. Not as "plush" of course as our homes but convenient for a bigger family.

We stayed in a cabin back in March of this year, as we couldn't get one of our nights in a 2 BR at BWV. Wait list didn't come through for that night. We loved the cabins much more than the 'old' FW homes. When we went to BWV last week for Thanksgiving, my boys wanted to go to trails end for dinner, then over to the campfire program. On the drive back to BWV, they begged me to look in to getting a FW cabin for NEXT Thanksgiving !! Unfortunately, after our March 2002 stay at VWL in a 2 BR, we will only have 97 points left over for Thanksgiving 2002, not enough for a cabin for 5 days like we plan on staying. I guess a VWL studio is our only resort (pun ?).

The good part is our proximity to FW will be much better than BWV.

But I do agree that the Disney collection point schedule sometimes doesn't make a lot of sense when it comes to exchanges out of DVC. Don't get me wrong, the FW cabins is one of the few resorts that had a reduction of points, so I'm not complaining !!

Actually, I am not from Ohio, I am just stranded here working on a DOE clean-up site...for the past 9 years. I am a Tennessee boy, maybe that accounts for me picking on "snobbery". We do have indoor plumbing where I come from. :)

Heres the story we were booked for 6 nights at the Contemporary in Fall '98. We checked in and one night in that "concrete parking deck of motel" was all we could stand. Noisiest place we've ever been in. We got on the phone that night with CR about moving elsewhere. Finally they found us a FW cabin. We moved the next morning. We really liked it. While staying there Hurricane Mitch came thru and it rained for 2 days, so we visited DVC and bought in. We talked several times about staying at FW again and would welcome such an arrangement with DVC. I thought it was neat being able to park right at your door.

We have stayed at FW twice and loved it!
Sometime we will get a cabin again !

Grateful11,
OKW has parking right outside your door too.:D

and it's not noisy, either.

So I guess if i'm reading this right given the good reviews, it would be nice if the cabins were included with a better point value than the current one.

I was wondering which of the Dauntless Defenders of OKW would jump in with that comment! :D
