Shots fired!

Okay I have lived in MI for a little over a year now and I cannot get used to the sound of guns going off during hunting season!! It makes me jump every time. I grew up in the Los Angeles area and shots being fired there is way different than shots being fired here. I don't like the sound.

It's weird that on the news here they post pics that people send in with their kill. I saw a pic the other day of a dad and his son holding up the antlers of their dead buck or whatever it's called. It was so strange!!

I'm not knocking hunting especially since they eat the meat it's no different than eating chicken or beef which I do, I just don't think I'll ever get used to it.

Next week is the rut for deers. Hunters will be out in mass trying to shoot horny bucks.

OMG you mean it hasn't even started yet?!?!
You can tell I no nada about hunting! The stores are packed with various hunting equipment, half of it I couldn't tell you what it was for to save my life.

Well, it probably was target practice and I'm still going to take cover!!

Do you think if maybe YOU learned to shoot you wouldn't be so gun shy? Target practice can be fun. I learned how to shoot a bow when I was nine, and I love it. Maybe you should try it.

I went to a shooting range once. Tried a .38 revolver which wasn't bad. Then tried a Glock 9 mm. (DH's) which scared the crap out of me!

I realize those aren't your standard hunting guns, I'm just saying that's all I've ever had contact with. I freely admit I know nothing of guns.

It's just the sounds that scare me because hearing it here means target practice or deer hunting, hearing it where I grew up in CA meant someone was getting shot at!
