Short trip - What should we add

We are planning a trip back to SoCal (where we used to live) to visit friends and we are going to spend 2 nights and 2-1/2 days at Disneyland, so a short trip to DLR. We are staying at GC. We have 2 kids, 4 and 6, and we like to spend afternoons at the pool and spend the mornings and evenings at the parks. Oh, also, we are going the first two days of July, so peak season.

I am trying to decide if I want to add in a character meal or fantasmic dessert buffet or other add ons like that. I don't want to overstuff our trip with too many things that we can't enjoy just being there and going on rides and being at the parks. Do you think with that short of a trip, we should just enjoy the parks and pool and play our schedule by ear and not try to add anything. Or do you think we could fit all in?

Since your stay will be short I wouldn't try to cram too much into your schedule. If you really want to add a character breakfast I assume your best bet would be the minnie and friends character breakfast since it's in the park. although most people say goofy's is the best character breakfast. since it's peak season and your only going for 2 1/2 days you might want to keep pool time down to a minimum if you want to see and do everything BUT since the park will be open till midnight you might have the opportunity to take a good portion of the afternoon for pool time and still have enough time to see and do mostly everything that the parks have to offer.

Yeah I have to agree, I wouldnt cram too much in as well. Just enjoy yourselves and let whatever happens happen. I would say that if you can always take in the Storytellers Cafe at the Grand or head over to Goofy's kitchen for more character interaction, or Ariels Grotto in DCA for a princess lunch.

But I would just go with the flow. Save some money and enjoy yourselves with no rush.

Well, if you're going to be at the pool in the afternoon, maybe dinner at Goofy's Kitchen with characters? I've heard good things about it.

My problem with character breakfasts is that it takes up "prime time" for when the parks are less crowded!

We love Goofy's for dinner. The menu is on allears.net if you are intereested and they offer a 10% AAA discount.

What about a hotel character breakfast on the morning you leave, that is to say it won't conflict with your time in the parks. That's what we did on our last trip, we had breakfast at Storyteller's. It "prolongs" your Disney experience but doesn't conflict with any other good times you could have been having instead as your trip is essentially over!

I agree with noryglory, this is a great way to 'stretch' the magic!

We have spent the morning before we leave in DTD in the past, for the same reason. It's Disney without needing to have days left on a pass.

We did the same thing as the previous poster mentioned. We ended up adding a character breakfast for the morning before we left. We had a noon flight and did an 8am character breakfast at Goofy's. It was a great way to end the trip on a high note. Our son loved it, since Goofy turned out to be one of his favorite characters while we were there.

We are also doing this. We are starting our trip with dinner at Goofy's and on our last morning, we are doing Lilo and Stitch. I like that we'll be starting and ending the trip with character meals.
