We spent the two days prior to the Member's Cruise at SSR. I have to say I was impressed. We had requested a DTD view and boy did we get one. Our room was 1723 (A lock-off studio) in Congress Park. The view was awesome. It overlooked the quiet pool and had a stunning view of Disney Quest and Cirque du Soleil.

The bus stop was relatively close. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. One day we chose to walk to Downtown Disney because it was a beautiful day. It was a pleasant walk and took about 10 minutes from our room. We also tried the walkway from the Carriage house to West Side. It also took about 10 minutes. Also we had no problems catching a bus from the Carriage House to Congress Park.

DS gives the pool two thumbs up. He really enjoyed the slide.

We had breakfast at the Artist Palete. It was comparable to other resort counter service.

We did make use of the Turf Club. Under the TV you will find board games and card games. Kinda reminds me of a large Murgies Den. It was a great place to spent the last few hours while waiting on the DCL Buses to pick us up. The future addition of the new table service restaurant may dampen this quiet little retreat. Oh well you lose a little to gain a little.

SSR has the quiet and relaxing feel of OKW/HHI but yet is very close to DTD and a little action like BWV/BCV. I am really excited about staying here again.

Thanks so much for your report Robin! It was perfect timing because I was just thinking about a SSR trip before too long.....

Glad to hear you were so pleased with SSR! I also enjoyed my first stay there this spring. Thanks for posting!

Hope you had a terrific cruise too! :boat:

We feel the same way! :goodvibes Glad you had a good time, thanks for sharing :flower:

Robin, I am pretty sure that's the same room we had last fall. It is a great view of the second pool and DTD!

so is there definately going to be a table service restaurant at SSR and if so will it be ready before I go in October 2006????

Susan our guide told us last month that there is definately a new restaurant getting built but didn't say when.

Hi Robin,

We were there the night before the cruise as well! We also had a great view of PI/DTD and the pool from our 1st floor studio -- I believe it was #1618??

We also stayed there the 3 nights after the cruise is a 1 bedroom #3507. I loved this location. Right across the street from the main pool. Easy access to the parking lot (only a couple steps away).

The only thing I would change would be the time Artist's Palette opens. To me, 7:30 is kind of late to get that cup of coffee on the run when a park opens at 8:00. The couple mornings I went over, there was already a line forming outside for them to open.

Yes Jim Lewis did confirm that thier will be a table service restaurant next to the current Turf club. I don't think he mentioned a projected opening date.

Robin - thanks for the report. We look forward to staying at SSR in the future.

Thanks for the report. I love SSR. Good point about the mix between the quiet and the action. I am so glad to hear about the restaurant. It will have a beautiful view! :cheer2:
