Mike and I had forgotten our refillable water park mugs one day, so decided to make the next day, a Monday, Typhoon Lagoon day. The day dawned grey, but we went down to Typhoon Lagoon anyway. This time, they had the meal plus vouchers, so we bought one, and went on our merry way to the locker and the drink stands. We were disappointed to find out that the soft-serve ice cream stands were closed that day, but were told we could use the ice cream passes another day, or for novelties at the food stands that were open.

Since the sky threatened rain all day, there was hardly anyone in the park. This was also true for the counter service places, which was a welcoming change from one time where we waited over an hour in line to order and pick up our food. We also decided to split this meal as it was getting late for lunch and we were going to the Pepper Market that evening.

We walked up to the cashier at Leaning Palms and ordered a barbecue pork sandwich with a fruit cup instead of fries or chips. They also have pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and wraps; you can find an old menu here. We handed over our voucher and received our sandwich very quickly, which usually doesn't happen on a normal, sunny day. Seating was ample and empty, except for the seats being a little wet from the sprinkling rain. This was no big deal, as we were at a water park! Usually it's somewhat difficult to find a seat on a warm spring or summer weekend day, and one of us will usually go and scout out a table.

The bun on the sandwich was a kaiser bun with no seeds, and had a good texture. The pork itself was standard counter service barbecue, but it tasted good and was sauced just right. The bun wasn't soggy from the sauce and falling apart as it had been the last time we ate at Typhoon Lagoon. The meat was a little chewy, but it was to be expected. The fruit cups keep getting better as summer approaches, but this time there was no watermelon, which disappointed me. There was only honeydew, cantalope, and grapes. It made for a very light lunch for the two of us, and may not be enough to share for an average lunch.

This was an overall good counter service meal, and the Cast Members were joking and friendly as there was almost no one there. There isn't really much of a choice of where to eat at the water parks, but with the vouchers it makes it a little more affordable if you don't want to bring in your own food. And the food quality isn't bad, either.

Thanks for the review after learning abouthte plus meal vouchers I was considering this with the kids over packing a lunch. I think I will give it a try.
