After visiting Universal for four fantastic nights, my family spent two nights at the BWV and were joined by my sisters and their kids for four nights at SOG. Both resorts were absolutely great. The BWV stood out for location and service, and our studio was quite large, but we were given a handicapped accessible room which was kind of a pain because of the shower head not staying fixed in an upright position. Oh well, everything else was super and as point renters we can see the value of owning DVC. One of the nice building men at BWV took it upon himself to oil my squeaky stroller wheels. How nice and unexpected.

The SOG was breathtakingly beautiful, and our very large room was right next to the warm pool. We saw the alligator every morning on our way out of the resort to the parks, and the golf cart to the Poly is very convenient.

We ended our stay with a birthday Wishes cruise, which was breathtakingly perfect. Our lifeguard/boat captain was very kind and even let the kids drive the boat. I thought that our boat wouldn't have the Wishes music, but it was piped in, and I found the fireworks even more beautiful from a distance than up close. It was money well spent.

One other highlight of our stay was the wine tasting in Italy. Oh, and the other highlight was the 15 free park hopper tickets that a guy gave me in MK one night. Can't beat that.

It was a great trip. The best part was taking time out of my hectic life to reconnect with the kids and my husband (who by the way caught the flu and is now moaning in the next room- it'll pass by tomorrow). On our 16 hour ride home from Orlando my kids only fought twice; now that's magic. Thanks Disney!

Thanks for posting! Sounds like you all had a great time! Hope your DH gets well soon...

Glad you enjoyed Shades of Green. We enjoyed the hotel as well. It was very pretty, and the staff was very friendly!

We were in the "old" section, but with the remodel, it didn't look old at all. I would definitely go back there again.

Good to hear about Shades...we are hoping to go maybe in 2006.

We, too, were in the old section, and very pleased! We were near the Mickey Pool!

Do all the rooms have armoire's? or are the T.V.'s on the dresser ( oh please say armoire :) )

It sounds like a great trip. We have a 16 hours drive too! Did you use a refillable mug at BWV by any chance? We will be going in April and just love hearing about what to do.

OK, "Armoire". At All Ears there is a picture of a room with the TV out on the dresser, and a picture of a TV in an armoire. I'm thinking the armoire is a newer picture, and the one on the dresser is from before the renovations. But I could be wrong, and what difference would it make?

What can I say, I Loooove armoire's

Our SOG tv was in an armoire. There were two chests of drawers, and the closet was absolutely huge. We could have parked our stroller in there.

We didn't use refillable mugs at the BWV. As a matter of fact, we only ate in our room and at the pizza restaurant on the Boardwalk while we were there. The studio room had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and even a toaster, and we thought the whole hotel was very easy to navigate. The workout center, the laundry, the pool, the lobby, and the boardwalk itself were all a quick walk from our villa room and parking was a breeze.

Could a Pack and Play/Portable Crib fit in there? :jester:

Hmm. I don't know about that, but there was ample room for a pack and play between the closet and the chest of drawers. It would have been the perfect place. Were you thinking about using both beds, the pullout couch and a pack and play? I think it would be a bit tight, but it could be done.

Wasn't planning on using the couch, but will definately need our pack and play for our 18 mo DS. I guess our 6 yo DS could sleep on the couch and DW and I could each have our own beds. :jester:

Well, if you don't use or pull out the couch, there should be room for the pack n play between the couch and the dinner table as well. You, your wife, and your six year old will probably have a few sleeping options.

Our t.v was in an armoire. We were in the old section, too. The rooms were so nice.. very big. The only problem we found was that our of the two rooms we had (my FIL was in an adjoining room) was that the small table was wobbly. One call to the front desk, and it was fixed w/in the hour.

Oh, and about the pack and play, there's PLENTY of room.

I *think* the rooms at Shades are the largest rooms on property. And since when we stayed at the Contemporary we had the pack n play, the two queen beds, the daybed AND the stroller parked in the room with no problem, I am sure it wouldn't be a problem at Shades, as it's a few square feet bigger!

Hey Alice, I was just making a joke, asking if there was enough room in the closet for the pack n play. pirate:

I truly thought you were serious. Ha! Sometimes those tongue in cheek jokes don't translate on the internet. I was going to say that you, your wife, your six year old, and the 18 month old would have a variety of sleeping arrangements, but you probably won't all fit in the pack n play, but I thought you were seriously seeking info. Party on.
