So rooms are all booked ( multiple rooms ), tickets linked to MDE, Fastpass+ and Dining reservations made. Only a few days out....

And some of our people have changed their minds as to which rooms they want to stay in...

Is it too late to call Member Services and have this swapped around? Will it cause a massive headache when it comes to all the linked stuff? ( not to mention, the magic bands ). Should I just get them to get a keycard for the separate rooms once we are checked in? Or can they even CHANGE the room the the magicband will unlock once we check in?

Anyone have experience with this?

Disney does have an option for people who do not want to wear Magic Bands (so they can not be tracked :) ), I would have the room swappers be one of those people. Get a key card like you said, and use those just as you stated.

I think that is the least risky.

I have never made changes of this scale, but have added people to a reservation late in the game.

They can change what room a MB unlocks after check in. Think about if you check in, and the room is filthy, and they move you; that is exactly what they are doing.

The Magic Band is merely an ID. I would think it would be straight forward for MS to do what you want without issue.

That being said, if you can go with the first option, I would take that!

FP+ is based on guest name. So if you change the name on the reservation the FPs are gone. However, if you don't change the name on the reservation charging privileges are out too. I suppose you could order the MBs with any name on them. What address did you use for the guests? Did the MBs already go out?

Well we are coming from Canada, so we pick up at the resort BUT yes, they are already customized. and when I say short notice, I mean really. Like we are heading out this week.
it's okay, we'll see what they can swap around at the hotel and if not, we'll just get them key cards to the rooms they want to stay in. I had a hunch with all the links into the reservation ( FP+ most notably ) that it wouldn't be super straightforward.

Best passes have nothing to do with the room reservation other than that a room reservation means that you can make them 60 days out. They will not be lost if you change. Fast passes are dependent upon having a ticket media.

I suppose you mean fast passes not best passes, but if the guest who has the FPs name is removed would they just switch to the new guest? It doesn't seem right to me that someone that didn't have their name on a reservation at the 60 day mark suddenly gets the FPs for someone else. Are you saying you can book a reservation make the FP+ at 60 days, cancel the reservation and still have the FPs? People must be really exploiting that loophole.

I was referring to what seemed to just be moving people around to different rooms. FP'S are attached to individual people, not the room, so if they are changing rooms but are still going then their FP'S will stay just as originally reserved. If it were brand new people then yes, it would require making new FP reservations.

Just as an FYI. Now having returned from the vacation that started this thread.

When we got there, we checked in and the kids who wanted to play "musical rooms" went to talk to the front desk. So it turns out that there is a bit of truth in a few statements in the thread.

1) Easiest way is indeed to just get a card to the other room they want to be in. That's what they ended up doing.

BUT

2) The front desk said that they COULD change the guests to other rooms. But that it would take about 30 minutes per person ( there were 4 of them, 2 per room who wanted to switch ). Why I'm not sure, I guess they need to talk to IT or something. In the end, our gang decided it was not worth THAT much trouble and just got the cards.

I think it's because they have to cancel and rebook the room.
