We had the opportunity to enjoy a long weekend at OKW last week and were able to secure 3 nights in a 1BR villa on short notice.

We arrived at 11:30pm Thurs night and were met by FL Tours, a new DIS sponsor. The ride was great. A clean, comfy Towncar with a personable driver (Andy). They do provide a grocery stop, but we opted to just head to OKW due to the hour!

Check-in was very smooth (and no wait at midnight) . We got our "Welcome Home" from the CM at the desk and were assigned to villa 1325. We have stayed all over OKW since 1993 but had never stayed in the 11-14 area previously. The 2nd floor room was clean and had a great view of the golf course and pond with a fountain. The short walk to Hospitality House was appreciated.

The parks were pretty quiet- especially for a weekend. We had no waits for buses or attractions at any time.

Now we have to wait another 16 days to head for BCV!! ;)

Glad to hear it worked out well for you, Doc!

I just wish I lived close enough to "hop over" for a few days.

EDIT: The reason we can't take a weekend at WDW is that my wife is afraid to fly. Driving from Connecticut would take most of the weekend. :teeth:

I was wondering where you were.....had a feeling you might have headed "home". Thanks for sharing a trip report! :)

Doc

Thanks for the trip report. Did you request 1BR or a studio when you made reservations?

Did you request 1BR or a studio when you made reservations?

We reserved a 1BR and requested non-smoking, but otherwise made no requests. We had an upper floor room, with no noise from any nearby villas.

Thanks for the report, Doc! Sounds like a fun trip.

There's nothing like a quick trip "home" is there Doc?:D

I can't believe that there was one section of OKW that you hadn't stayed in yet. I thought you owned the place.;)

I've been hearing great things about Andy and FL Tours. We're definitely using them for our Christmas/NYE adventure.

Darn it!! You're going to beat me to staying at BCV. We had our waitlist come through for our October trip. I still think I have you beat when it comes to staying at VWL.

Nice to have you back long enough to repack your bags!:p :p

That sounds like a great little "mini" vacation. We do that all the time. Sounds like you'll be there Labor Day too, we'll be at OKW...

Doc,

Isn't it great to be so close to home and yet "feel" far away....in your second home? Good to hear you could get in on short notice, too!

All the best,
Shontell

Just wondering how close do you live to WDW?

I live 1064 miles away! We're in north central Indiana, but only an hour from the airport! ;)

Doc,

Thanks for replying. We are also 1 hr from 3 airports.........
Cleveland,Pittsburgh, and Akron.;)

I hear you ncligs. We're in the same vicinity as you. When airfare dropped prior to July 4th of this year, we made a last minute dash to WDW. We were able to get last minute ressies for a BCV studio for the first 3 nights that they were open to the public.

I got a farewatcher alert today for more inexpensive flights to/from Orlando. To say that I'm tempted to fly down for a long weekend is an understatement.

I'm glad that things worked out for you Doc. Hope you enjoy your stay at BCV.
