aahh, today is EMH at Animal Kingdom ....so at 6:15am we get a wake-up call from Stitch and Mickey - what a great way to start the day!! up and out the door - waiting for the bus at 7:05am...1 whole minute! and then, we are the only people on it....what service!

we get to AK ...they open at 7:45am...and we are first at the ropes...sadly EE is closed today...the characters greet us in style ( see photos in day 2) and then we're off to the safari..first people on for the first safari of the day..it's maybe 8:05 at this point. EVERY and I mean, every animal was out and about! really super ( and yes, it was still cold)! Florida broke some kind of record with the 35 degree temp at night but hey - we aren't shoveling snow! :rotfl2:

9am ADR's at the Rainforest...our server was Brandi. the place wasn't very crowded and I had the pleasure of sitting right next to the animatronic elephant..who bellowed every few minutes and managed to startle me.. the food was decent, not WOW ....and like the rest of our trip so far - our server was excellent.

next we checked out Dinosaur - the ride...GREAT!! only a 5 minute wait.. then we caught the Festival of the Lion King show ( we were warthogs) which was very very entertaining...you must catch this when you're there.

we broke up our day by having the DVC van pick us up and wisk us away to SSR for our presentation. our guide ( Dave K.) was informative and we enjoyed it very much...didn't buy on the spot..wanted to go over all the facts later.. the van brought us back to AK in plenty of time for the 4pm parade...first time we'd ever seen that also...incredibly colorful and not long enough to be annoying!! we grabbed a quick bite at Flame Tree (sharing again -CC , the food was excellent...then to boot - we had NO wait for our bus back "home"

I must say, this is almost my favorite park...I LOVE the animals, the Tree of Life, and we got to view close up Everest - even though it was closed...quite awesome..

after all of our running around, we decided to have dinner at the lodge this evening and we ordered pizza and a hero from Giordano's..now don't shoot me here - it wasn't great BUT being from New York and all, maybe I'm just very spoiled when it comes to my pizza  the meatball hero was really really tasty though ...

over pizza, in a cozy corner of the lobby, we poured over the DVC materials and pondered our decision...still didn't want to be hasty but, oh yes, we were in! decided to call our guide the next day to get the paperwork started...we got to walk around and admire the craftsmanship that abounds at the lodge and even got in a game (or 2) of air hockey...ok, so he beat me 2 out of 3 ...there's always a next time!

coming tomorrow - MGM....

Can't wait to see Animal Kingdom for the first time - too bad you didn't get on EE, I'm so anxious to ride on it. Sounds like you had a great day there and that the animals were out. Enjoying your reports - waiting for next day patiently :cool1:
