We just got back from a week at Disney for Christmas, and I wanted to share our reviews. I don't take food pics, but I love reading all of the reviews and planning what I want to have on our trips, so I wanted to give back.
Resorts:
Capt. Cook's: Beef Pho was tasty, although the only sauce you can add is Texas Pete's. Loved the grilled ham/cheese with cranberry walnut pesto, and the house chips it comes with are delicious. Two light eaters could easily split the sandwich. Kids' nuggets are not very good, but the pineapple and chicken skewers with the salad was perfect!
Kona: Favorite breakfast I've ever had on property. Loved, loved, loved the Samoan. Hubby and I split that and the macadamia pineapple pancakes with fruit. It was all delicious, and the kona press pot was a perfect addition.
Trader Sam's: We walked in, and it was amazing. Two drinks: Castaway Crush (very sweet) and Polynesian Pearl (also sweet, but tasty). Great experience.
Mizner's Lounge: Portugese flatbread, arancini, and bread basket. All of the food was from Citrico's and excellent. Can't remember what drink my husband got, but I had a moscow mule, and it was perfect.
Gingerbread shop at GF: Gingerbread Mickey with chocolate dipped ears. This was ok. A neat novelty, but not especially good.
California Grill: On a whim, we asked about room at the bar (Friday night of the week leading up to Christmas, 1.5 hours prior to Holiday Wishes). Surprisingly, they sent us straight up, and we had a perfect cocktail table view of the Magic Kingdom. Food: a pear and kale salad that was divine, along with a pork confit flatbread that was rich and delicious. Drinks: I had the cucumber fizz, and it was overwhelmingly cucumber. Not very good. Husband had the Santa Monica Cider, and it was yummy.
Roaring Forks: Veggie pesto flatbread was great, as was the kids' pepperoni flatbread.
Magic Kingdom:
Pinocchio's Haus: Chicken caesar salad was ok. The kid's flatbread meals were a fantastic value, and hit the spot perfectly. On the adult menu, a flatbread is plenty to share.
MVMCP treats: Nothing wrong with the treats. Once we got cool chocolate instead of hot, but it was easy to exchange.
Be Our Guest lunch: I ordered Kids' Feast a la Beast. Perfect amount of food. Green beans were crisp. Mashed sweet potatoes were tasty. Pork was great, and there were lots of carrots and mushrooms. Kids got grilled cheese with green beans and tomato soup. This was a huge amount of food, and the two of them could have easily split it.
Columbia Harbor House: Clam chowder was just ok, not as good as in the past. The tuna sandwich was the same. Ok, but not great. House chips were perfect. Kids got mac and cheese, and it was disgustingly cheesy--mostly cheese sauce. I don't get picky about kids' food, but this was not good. The place was slammed, so I think that played into it because CHH is always a solid for us.
Sleepy Hollow: Ordered both the nutella and fruit waffle and the sweet and spicy chicken. Both were perfection, and both were HUGE! We split each of these between two people, and it was plenty. A side note here: people were being rude in line because it takes a little bit to get your food. The waffles are made fresh (20+ waffle irons going inside), and I felt bad for the cast members. Be patient, and if you can't, go to a different place.
Popcorn: Is it ever bad? Loved it!
Starbucks: LOVE always. Actually, we did Starbucks in every park, and it was perfect every time.
Animal Kingdom:
Harambe Market: Such a lovely addition to this park. The theming is great, and the food was some of the best QS we had. The beef gyro was delicious, but huge. Definitely share this. The broccoli salad was outstanding.
Hollywood Studios:
Sci Fi lunch: Both the turkey and rueben sandwiches were solidly good. One of us got the cucumber salad, and the other got the fries, so we shared. Both sides were good. Kids got mac and cheese. They loved it here.
50s Prime Time Dinner: We got an amazing waitress, so that was great. Hubby and I shared the sampler. Everything (fried chicken, pot roast, and meatloaf) was really good, including the sides (green beans and mashed pot). We also split a PB&J milkshake, which was delicious.
Epcot:
Garden Grill lunch: Everything was great! Love the lunch option, which only misses the bread and fish from dinner. The broccoli was awesome, and the only thing we needed seconds of. They bring you soooo much food, and I hate that we can never eat it all. The stuffing was so good!! As was the short cake for dessert. Love, love, love this meal.
Chefs de France: Hubby and I both did the Prix Fixe menu. Both of us got French Onion soup (very good), but he got the Croque monsieur, while I tried the quiche. His sandwich was not very good--kind of rubbery. The quiche was nice, but we both loved the salad. One of our kids got the French pasta, which she liked. The other only got the cheese puff appy, and she enjoyed it. For dessert, we split the mousse and creme brulee. My favorite was the creme brulee--perfectly prepared, rich, creamy, and the perfect finish on the sugar.
Snacks around the world: School bread (good, as usual), caramel corn (not my favorite, but the kids like it), grapefruit beer (yum!), pretzel in Germany (ok, but I prefer the hot Mickey pretzels), ham and cheese croissant (perfect meal or large snack--make sure to have it heated), salted dark chocolate caramel (OMG!!!!), Applejack cider in England (holiday special--cider with whiskey. delightful)
