I just got my Shore Excursion information, which reall is getting me excited. My family is doing the 3 night Wonder. It is me, dh, dd (6) and ds (2.) Originally, we were not planning on getting off the ship in Nassau, but after reading the excursion list, we have decided that we want to do one of the tours, the Ardastra Gardens and City Tour. I thought that this would be perfect for us. We are big animal people and this is one of the few things that we can do with a 2 yr old. Anyone else considering do this excursions or have any reviews about it????

I'm of no help - just lamenting we're in the same boat (er, ship)...

We're doing the 3-night Wonder in May with ds 7 and ds 20 months - and having the same discussion because of the little one.....DS#1 wants to do the Dolphin Encounter desparately; I'm trying to figure out the lesser of two evils....I don't know how my #2 would handle sitting for the "tour" part......and not really sure how long that part lasts.....

I really, really recommend the Ardastra Gardens if you have kids that love animals.

It's small, intimate and unusual. And they're one of the few places in the world that has managed to breed flamingoes (locals pronounce it "fillymingo") in captivity AND make 'em "march".

There was a wonderfuly article about the curator in the Nassau Tribune this past Monday that I'll be taking along on the Magic this weekend for someone who asked, but it reconfirmed my opinion of the place.

Ardastra Gardens: Is this someplace we can get a cab to and see. I think this might be a good thing to do with our young kids while in Nassau, but I don't want to do an Island tour with it.

Gupsmom ...

Taxi is fine ... and you can pay at the entrance to Ardastra Gardens. Ask if there's a family discount or anything ... you never know.

The Taxi driver might even do a mini-tour for you for not alot more money.

Actually, with kids that'd be a neat idea ... Fort Charlotte is on the way and I bet they'd be fascinated with some of that. And if it's during the daytime the HUGE playing fields down below the Fort will probably be empty and the kids can have a blast running in wide open spaces or rolling down the hill or any number of things we used to do there when I was [mucho] younger.

We just got back from our 3/6 Wonder cruise. My family DH39
Me39 DS9 and DS4, did the Ardastra Garden and City tour excursion through Disney. We only had about 40 minutes to spend there before our city tour. I would highly recommend a visit to the gardens, but save yourself lots of money and do this trip on your own. There are taxis everywhere, and the gardens are not very far. The grounds were beautiful, and the kids will love all the animals. Admission to the gardens weren't bad at all, I just glanced at the price, but I recall something like $6 for adults??? Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you for the response. Does anyone know the hours?

Jess
