I am a Disneyland AP and will finally be making my first trip to WDW next summer ... I can't wait to get my shopping on ...

- What is your shopping budget at WDW?

- What items did you buy at the resort that you love?

- What are some unique items you purchased?

- What wasn't worth your money?

I normally try and get up an extra $150-$400 just for shopping. I have bought anything from kitchen towels to picture albums, tshirts, coffee, magnets, clocks and my all time fave is christmas ornaments.. I get my DH a galss dragon each trip from one of the crystal shops..
This yr I will only have about $150 just for me, my kids have their own spending money thank the Lord. This was a completely unexpected trip and we got free dining so I am very grateful..

Congratulations on your first trip, you will be hooked! LOL

What is your shopping budget at WDW?
Around $500.00 for my husband and myself. I usually spend $100.00 at the scrapbook store at Downtown Disney. Be sure to go there if you love to shop! Oh, and I usually spend $50.00 or more at the Christmas store. Not sure of the name but they are all Christmas items and so many beautiful ornaments. All disney of course! He collects the Disney pins.
This year we are giving the kids $300.00 each for Christmas since we will be at Disney then, so they'll have their own money to budget.

- What items did you buy at the resort that you love? I love the hats! Also the little porcelin type figures of the disney characters.

- What are some unique items you purchased? unique? Probably the special Christmas ornaments. They are so adorable and very unique

- What wasn't worth your money? I can't think of a thing that wasn't worth the money, LOL! :dance3:

Budget - not including the kids, they have their own money, about $500, possibly $600 this year because I am budgeting the Photopass CD that is $99.

Resort items - Dh like to get a BWV DVC polo shirt, Christmas ornament from the resort

Unique items - we buy art work. Our home is decorated with disney pictures all over the house. Last yr dd got to pick out a character for an animator to draw and she picked Tink and the animator even had Tink autograph it for her. We came home and got it framed and it hangs in her room. this year we are thinking of buying one of those large figurines and having it shippped home, they usually run about $150.

Not unique but I like to buy pens that I will use at work all year long so that I think of Disney every day while I am working until our next trip.

Not worth my money - I can't really think of anything. :scratchin
Unique

I don't set a budget, I just try not to spend money on things I truly don't need.

This year my oldest DD is taking her Disney Dollars that she has been earning all summer. Her budget will be about $75 :thumbsup2

The one item that wasn't worth the money for me was Pal Mickey. I think I am officially the only one on The DIS that feels that way, but I can't help it. I just didn't think he was worth $50 :sad2:

I think we're in the $500-600 range as well. I spend at least $100 at the scrapbook store too :thumbsup2 Christmas ornaments, we have one tree in our family room that is all Disney themed. My oldest dd collects snowglobes so she spends most of her money on those. The one item I loved the most is probably the giant cinderella castle set we bought for dd last year. NOt worth the money - We've bought those character shaped crayons, they don't work very well.

Have a GREAT trip!!!

- What is your shopping budget at WDW?
For my upcoming solo trip, I'm bringing $300 for myself.

- What items did you buy at the resort that you love?
A stuffed bear, an a sweatshirt

- What are some unique items you purchased?
Christmas stuff

- What wasn't worth your money?
The lego thing I bought my fiance

DH and I will budget about $800.00 for our Christmas trip. We end up doing some Christmas shopping while we are there. From the resorts I always buy a magnet and the refillable mug. I bring some of the magnets to work. Students have added magnets to my file cabinet over the last few years. I also buy pens that I use all the time, pads of paper and anything unique. Pal Mickey was a big interesting purchase for use. He comes with us every trip

I would suggest that you buy what will remind you of your first trip. Also if you collect something special from DL try and get the WDW version.

Have a great trip

After all our trips, we kinda have our "routine souveniors" we must get. Other than that, we try to keep it to a minimum. Our routine souveniors are things we feel havent' been a waste. My DD-9 gets to spend $50. She has just started the pin trading thing too. I usually get us the yearly ornament and DD-9 picks out one for our Disney Xmas tree. (yep, disney, we have a tinkerball topper too!) Then, I usually get a shirt, cd, magnetic or hat. Our budget is $150 for just souveniors for the two of us.
We each get $50 then $50 for family items. We're not exactly sticklers either. Sometimes, we are over and sometimes under.

we don't set a budget for ourselves. We just make sure we don't buy things that we can buy here at the Disney Store (unless it's some type of emergency..for example we went to AK, rode KRR, got soaked, and bought clothes to change into!) But we collect the Disney Snowglobes and the ones the sell in WDW you can not find anywhere else...not online, not in the Disney Store, and not even in the Disney Catalogue.

The only thing we spent money on that we thought was a waste was Disney Quest. It just wasn't what we thought it would be and we thought the games were a little out-dated....Of course DBF is the Assistant Manager at a GameStop so he's picky :rotfl:

DH says that we spent about $1500.00 on souvenirs in May. That is more than what we usually spend. We were buying many things to decorate our new family room that's "all Disney".

My favorite souvenir is the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" BIG FIG that we got in MK. It cost $200.00.

mines in the thousands lol, but thats because the pound is so strong right now.

I normally buy the dated christmas mug, christmas decs. snowglobes, t shirts etc

plus shopping in your malls is way cheeper than here, I always stock up on yankee candles old navy etc

I don't budget either... I will buy a nice piece of jewelry for me and my husband wants a jacket.... so around 500.00 to 600.00 I don't want to buy to many things... The kids each have around 100.00$ each.... but I might be mistaken... once I'm there, it's free for all and want to spend, spend, spend ha! ha!

The budget depends on the number of days that we are there.

We make sure that the kids have $25/day. Then they decide whether to use it per day or if they see something more expensive then they have to save a couple of days worth to get the item.

My husband and I always buy anytype of license plate that we see at WDW. We have placed the license plates next to each other (like a border) in our office.

This is one reason we like to drive to WDW, so we can bring alot of souveniers back home with us. :goodvibes
You should have seen us getting on a plane when we flew home from Disneyland. What a sight!! :rotfl2:

Kris

Souvies really aren't our thing...we don't soend a lot on them. Things we always get are:
A pin for the year we're there
An ornament for the year we're there
A magnet from the resort we're at
A pin from the resort we're at.

We'll be saving money on the pin and magnet from the resort since we've stayed there before and already have them. We might be spending a bit more than usual this year, though, since we're adopting and want to buy a couple of baby outfits. :)
