Ok, so with the unexpected arrival of my blue DVC membership card:laughing: I plan to try to utilize some of the shopping discounts available. Where are your favorite places to get the DVC discount? Could anyone further elaborate on the 20% at selected locations? Thanks.

I ask everywhere. I made purchases at Epcot at UK and France. Also at World of Disney.

Do you need to make at least $50 in purchases to receive the discount? Would this discount apply to resort gift shops as well?

No minimum most items in gift shops are includes. Make sure to bring your photo ID also.

It definitely applies in the resort gift shops. My daughter bought her ray bans at the gift shop at GFV with a nice 20% off and I got DS a nice vineyard vines shirt using the discount as well. I was trying to find all my receipts from our April trip to add up all our discounts but I know we saved well over $200 just using our DVC discount. We used it at Disney Springs at the disney store, the Star Wars store (DS got a light saber with $30 savings), to get a phone case at that phone case store attached to TrenD. Like previously mentioned, ask EVERYWHERE. We never had a minimum purchase. Even used it at the disney treat store (forget the name - just remembered the goofy candy store, lol) where you make your own rice krispy treat dipped in all sorts of goodies, always a must for my family.

Even little things like a bottle of water...if you get it at a food court, CS restaurant or vendor, it’s full price, but if you get it from a gift shop, you get the 20% discount.

Discount on the milk and 2-liter of pop from the resort gift shop to help the sting of Disney prices, too.

In addition to on property stores, I've also shopped on the Parks app and received the 20% discount. Just link your DVC membership.

Doubt it will work that way. They have me as a resale account online.

SL6827, I also bought my three contracts via resale many years ago and am eligible for the discount in store and through the app and in store.

Mickey and Minnie always, it has been a while since I set my app up. But I do believe if you've link your DVC contract to your DME online that it shows up when you sign on to the app. Looking at my profile on the app, I see both my DVC and AP discounts.

I have thought about what if they were to try to access my DVC account through my magic band (for the discount) but I have been planning to put money on gift cards for myself and the two teens I have with me, (each of us have their own card) long before I got this DVC card. And I still plan on doing that. Gonna try to not charge that much back to my room bills and see how this method will work. As a matter of fact, we will be doing Disney Springs on our departure day so I would not be able to charge back to the room, as I want the gift cards to pay for this spending and not hitting my credit card.

Heck, I got the discounts at Hilton Head not even showing the card. Just saying yes when they ask me if I was a member. Was like that in 2016 too, but I was honest then and told them no and I did not get the discount.

You can pay your hotel charges with a gift card at the front desk, just make sure to do it the night before you check out.

Going to try to just pay most charges with gift cards this go around and avoiding charging back to the room, unless necessary.

Great idea using the gift cards and paying the bill before they put it on your charge card.

I look around for the best deals on Disney gift cards all year and grab them when I can. The Disney gift card website (https://www.disneygiftcard.com/) is a great way to manage a handful of cards into one. Just be careful and read the instructions. You MUST keep the main card in your hat little hand. The website is not a bank, just a way to organize all those $50 into one card.
