Shopping online-weird/odd ?

Every Christmas my DH decides we are going to cut back this year. Every year he says we won't exchange gifts (me and him) this year.

Every year 2 weeks before Christmas, presents for me start to materealize, and I am left scrambling last minute shopping.

To compound the problem, DH does the bills. I do not have my own bank account or credit card (and I prefer it this way). We have joint accounts, so it always feels like I have to ask him what we have available before I shop. It just ruins the surprise.

This year, I decided to be proactive, and I have been holding back some of my check. I should have a decent chunk of change to spend. I would really like to be able to shop online for him.

How could I do this? Is it possible, or am I better off shopping at the actual stores? How do those pre-paid credit card things worth? Can you send money orders into PayPal?

I have done most of my shopping on-line this year, so I will try to answer your questions. You really need a credit card to shop on-line. If you go to amazon.com you can apply on-line and then get a discount off your first order. If that isn't an option, your next best option would be a pre-paid mastercard or visa. I know many banks and AAA offer these. If that isn't an option, you can try webcertificates. I know mypoints.com use to offer these as a premium, but I am not sure if they still do.

I try to stay with the major companies when I shop on-line. I buy a lot from amazon, overstock, target, jcpenneys. I have even bought things from wal-mart and bestbuy. the bad thing is sometimes postage can be really high, so I always look at sites like mycoupons.com for free shipping offers and discount codes. Remember too, that most will come by USPS, UPS, Fed-ex so if your DH gets home first, he will see the packages if you want them to be a surprise. DS gets home before I do and loves it when my packages say on the outside where they come from. He can usually figure out what is in the packages by where they come from so it can spoil the surprise!!!
