When you shop on Castaway Cay do you use cash, credit or your KTTW card?

What about mailing postcards? Cash? How much to mail?

Thanks!

You use your KTTW card for store purchases on CC, but the post office is run by the Bahamian postal service. They do accept U.S. currency but bring small bills and change, as they can't always break large bills. Postal service to and from the Bahamas is fairly reliable. Postcards from the islands to North America, Europe and South America require a 50-cent stamp, while airmail letters cost 65 cents per half-ounce. Hope this helps.

Castaway Cay is set up just like the ship...you use your KTTW card for everything, they don't accept other forms of payment. The exception to this is the post office where they only accept cash. If I remember correctly each stamp was $.55.

Thanks, I'll stuff a CC envelope with ones and some change so I can mail postcards!

I got my postcards on the ship...the night before we docked at CC, had them all made out and ready to go. The post office is right as you debark the ship...so it is easy to pop right in, get the stamps and be done with that for the day.

If you are going to wait until after you go to the beach on CC..make sure you check the post office hours..I think it closes a bit before the ship sails.

I was thinking you could get special CC postcards on the island ... is that right? Or does the CC store sell the same ones as available on the ship?

I'm planning on bringing pre-printed address label so I can slap them on the postcards, write a quick message, then mail them ... probably first thing in the morning.

Thanks!

One of the coolest things our DD did was buy the 2 stamps that they had -and then she stuck them in her autograph book and had the stamps cancelled with Bahemian "stamp cancel thing" byt he postmaster.

Very cool souvenier - for $1.10.

When we were there the 2 stamps they had were of one of the Disney ships.

You can buy CC exclusive postcards at "She sells...." fill 'em out and mail them from the PO.

It's fascinating watching the "plug in" the ship to the island (so that the island charges show up on your stateroom account). :teeth) We are fascinated by the weirdest things ;)

We used the postcard that was in our room and mailed it to ourselves and it arrived home about a month after us! Cool sovenier.

That's a neat idea! I'm planning on sending several postcards back to myself to put in the grandkids and my scrapbooks ... think I'll buy a couple of stamps to bring back and put in them too.
