So I'm not much of a purse person (I prefer jackets and coats) however I've been checking over those special purses by Dooney & Burke and there's a couple I'm surprised to like!

My questions are: the store that sells these beauties, which one is it AND will they take a Disney Gift Card for payment as I can earn my way to one at $25 at a time.

Also, tell me why we want to wander around DTD for a bit - what's there for the kids to check out and for DH and I to see? We're eating at House of Blues when we first arrive and before we hit the Hungry Bear dessert thing for F!, I wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything in DTD.

TIA!

I'm pretty sure I recall seeing the D&B purses at Disney Vault 28. Being a Disney-owned store, it should accept Disney gift cards.

I purchased a D&B for a friend in a shop on Main Street 2 Decembers ago. It's the shop with cute women's clothing and scarves....sorry I can't remember the name, but ask a CM. There's usually cute handbags in the window. They do also have them at Vault 28 in DD and any store owned by Disney in DD you can use Disney Gift Cards.

DD is just an outdoor walking area with restaurants and shops...nothing you HAVE to see. The kids will like the Lego store and giant Lego structures in front of the building. There's a 3 story Build-A-Bear shop the kids love too, but be prepared to spend $200 in there.

Otherwise DD is just a place to get food and shop. House of Blues is fun but very very loud if there is a band playing or it's after 6pm! We went to eat with friends and ended up leaving because we couldn't hear each other (The Sunday Gospel Brunch is lovely though).
A lot of people on this site like the Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen food at DD. We had a very busy and loud experience there as well, but I think it was because it was Easter.

You can probably budget 35 minutes to see all of DD, I would spend the time exploring Disneyland Hotel or The Grand Californian Hotel rather than DD. You can take the monorail from DD (across from the Lego Store) into the park and get off in Tomorrowland and walk over to Hungry Bear but if it's your first time arriving at DL you should enter from Main Street and experience that wonderfulness. :lovestruc

Awesome info!

We have BaB here too but haven't spent anywhere near $200 there! Outfits are usually $30 or less... I guess the girls will have to decide if they want to use THEIR spending money on that, and not mine!

We'll be eating around 5 or so, so it shouldn't be too loud I hope. DH and I are huge blues fans so we really want to try it out. Not to mention I can get 60% off food vouchers online for HoB, so I thought we'd give it a go. Have at least one meal for US as opposed to the kids (which the rest of the trip will basically revolve around). But the next day I want to go to Ralph's for their begniets for a lunch 'dessert' on the way to the hotel before our break.

Oh yes, we'll take the long way to HB that first afternoon. I want to get photos of the girls' faces when the see the train station and realize they're REALLY at DL. It's been their dream for years. They keep telling me I'm like their Fairy Godmother because I made their fondest wish come true by taking them to DLR.

Sorry, I thought you were asking only about DTD locations that sell the D&B bags! :rotfl: As MommyJKM mentioned, the Disney Clothier on Main Street sells the bags (behind the counter). The Haunted Mansion D&B bag is available at Port Royale in NOS (when it's in stock!). I can't picture where at the moment, but I would guess Elias & Company is the most likely location in DCA.

Select designs are also available via DisneyStore.com.

I didn't know more stores than the one at DTD sold them! That's cool - I can do some window shopping before deciding then. I'm leaning toward the Haunted Mansion or Jack Skellington ones, but I'm pretty much open at this point.

Thanks for the clarification.

The Haunted Mansion bag has been very hard to get. I've only seen once in all of my trips to DLR, so I wouldn't count on being able to find that one to easily. I haven't heard about a Jack Skellington D&B back (there is one by Harvey's).

Disney Clothier!! Thank you, Figment_jii! I never remember the name yet I should have a ton of receipts with the name on them from there :)

The Haunted Mansion bag isn't in the parks anymore...you'l have to Ebay it. They're hard to find.

People seem to like the Harvey's bags as well.

MommyJKM, do you mean they've stopping producing the HMH bag or are they just out of stock?

Does anyone know if you can use the 20% coupon that you sometimes find on the back of the Disneyland receipts when purchasing handbags/purses?

I got my HM purse at Disney Vault 28. They might be able to tell you if and when they will get more in.
Just a heads up, though -- the large HM purse is quite heavy and a bit bulky. I do not use it a lot. If I could do it over again, I would go for a smaller one.

I'm interested in the cross-body bags mostly. I'll have to look around and see if anyone of them catches my eye.

And there's sometimes a 20% coupon on the back of receipts?! That's all kinds of awesome right there!

World of Disney in DTD has them too, they are locked away in display cases, but are out by the flow of traffic to that you can see them.

I have several Disney Doonies, and I get so many comments on them.

They just seem to be out of stock all time time. I bet you can ask a CM at one of the stores that specifically carries handbags how to get them.

I've seen the coupons on the bottom of the counter service receipts. They're usually only good at specific stores (e.g., Emporium, Star Traders, Elias & Co, etc.) and for specific times (e.g., before 1:00 pm). I haven't seen one that was accepted at Vault 28 or any of the smaller stores in the parks. The coupons themselves seem to be available during high shopping seasons (e.g., the holidays).

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't think they were a limited edition, but things can go out of production, so I thought maybe that's what you had been told by a CM. It seems like they only get a few at a time. I've only seen it once at Port Royale (last November).
