Hi...I'm planning to spend lots of time touring World Showcase as a result of the great thread about things to look for and do there...What are some of your favorite purchases there? Thanks so much....

We tend to spend a lot of time and money in the Japan pavilion. With 3- 20 somethings and one soon to be 13 yr. old who are all into Anime, etc. we always end up there. It is my favorite place to just browse. I also like the Mexico pavilion.
Have fun!

Hummels in Germany! I am an avid Hummel fan. I was fortunate one year to be there when an authentic Hummel artist was there creating a unique Father's Day Hummel for Disney. After I purchased it, I was able to get him to sign the piece! It made a great gift for my DH!

Purchasing an oyster in Japan and getting a pearl is another favorite. 11 years ago while going through my 2nd pregnancy, I purchased one for my DD. Later that day my MIL purchased one which had "twin" pearls inside! A week after returning from our trip, it was determined that I was expecting twins! Talk about ironic!

Happy shopping!!:tongue: ::MickeyMo

Whitegloves, I also have a daughter that is into anime big time. Do they have a good supply of anime there? What have you found?

My mom loves Hummel also. I love the dolls at Der Teddybar in Germany. It's not a vacation for me until I've picked one out.

I also love the shops in England -the tea shop always makes me want to change my china pattern to something Engligh and rosy! I also love English bath products and the toy store is adorable (also there are almost always characters there - I've seen most of the Pooh characters and Mary Poppins).

I love the huge shops in China and Japan. Who am I kidding - I love all of the shops! World Showcase is the best place in WDW to shop! Have fun.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

From what I remember they have a fair selection of anime products. I would say about 8 feet of shelf space and a couple of towers. I'm not into anime so I'm not sure exactly what was there, but I think it was mixed in with Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon stuff.

I have actually spent ALL DAY at WS!! And never made it over to Future World. There is sooooo much to see. (and buy!) Second to Magic Kingdom it is my favorite place at WDW.

Hummels are figurines made by Goebel in Germany. You have probably seen them forever without realizing it:

Looks like they will have one of their artists at WDW in June.

I love the scents in the perfume shop at France. L'Occitane makes the most wonderful botanicals, scented with pure lavender and lemon verbena, to name just a few. The best lavender you will ever smell.

Japan has wonderful cotton scarves and, my kids favorite, candy wrapped in rice tissue that dissolves in your mouth. Don't miss the candy sculpture lady. Incredible beasts fashioned from spun sugar.

There is a wonderful selection of VERY pricey Steiff stuffed animals in Germany. (But that wonderful train village, yet NO trains for sale).

My youngest son always adds to his collection of fuzzy marionettes in China. My older son loves the "fake Jade" dragons. Plus there are a lot of nice, cheap silk pouches.

The dolls are from a German company named Engel-Pupen (I'm sure that's not the right spelling). You create your own doll - pick out the face, eyes, hair, outfit, accesories, the whole nine yards. They have so many adorable outfits - traditional European and Asian costumes, pretty little dresses, skirt and sweater sets. They also do Disney costumes (Cinderella, Snow White, Alice, Mulan, Tinkerbell, Minnie, and others). The dolls run from $140 to $175. If you see an older, white-haired gentleman there (I can't remember his name) he is one of the actual doll artists from Germany. He'll make and sign your doll for you.

I collect Venetian masks, and the Italy pavillion has a nice selection of them.

I used to live in Germany and my favorite purchase in WS is those German wafer cookies. We buy several big bags and just chow down!

Thanks for all the ideas! Leaving a week from today and am so excited!!...Speaking of fragrances...Does anyone know the name of the fragrance in the Norway pavillion?..Anymore ideas for specific items throughout the World? Thanks again!

No matter how much time we spend in WS, I usually end up purchasing a cold Ringnes beer in Norway.

I missed most of this shopping because my friends thought it was "boring". :( But this time I am going without them. :teeth:

I will have to get a Hummel for my mom's BD!!!

Regarding the anime in Japan, check the prices. You can get some of that stuff a lot cheaper at Target or Toys-R-Us.

We bought engel-pupen dolls for my daughter twice. She designed the first one. Several years later I designed one for her as a birthday gift.... I was shocked when we brought it home and except for the dress & the dolls were almost identical (eye color different). Beware the Disney dresses are at a premium cost!

I buy cookie tins in UK as gifts for my cat sitter.

Morroco has nice cotton caftans & blouses... but you have to go to the back of the stores.

Since we live in Texas we are horrified at the prices charged in the Mexico pavillion! I can get the same things for fraction at the Mexican market in San Antonio.

I always buy a Christmas ornament from one of the countries.

THe origami books & supplies are a good thing in Japan. It kept the kids busy back in the hotel room when they were waiting for everyone to get ready.

I always have to get some shortbread in England and I always look at the china there. But my favorite thing to buy is an oyster in Japan. They open the oyster for you and you get to keep the pearl inside. Once I got two pearls in one oyster so I had them made into earings.
