Shoppers Hotline?

I got something in the mail from a company called Shoppers Hotline. Has anyone had any experience from them? It was addressed to me (vs. resident) and they are a BBB member.

Yes, I'm a member of Shopper's Hotline. You get a scanner. The base hooks up to your phone line. Each week the scanner will send your information - it's not charged to your phone. You are supposed to scan EVERY purchase that you make. For each week that you scan you get points.

It can be a PIA at times. Grocery scans are easy. You just scan each product. I find that stores like Wal-mart and Sam's are a pain because they ask for the price, quantity, if it was on sale or on display. If it's a few items it's not too bad.

Is there any sort of rewards system other than the warm fuzzies you get by helping multi-million dollar corporations market better?

You can cash your points (I believe you get 15pts per week if you scan at least something) in for GC to Red Lobster, Best Buy, Blockbuster, Pizza Hut, Barnes & Noble, Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Old Navy, Bath & Body, JC Penny, Sears, Home Depot, Marriot Gift Cheque. They also have gifts like headphones, CD wallets, clocks, slow cookers, tools. They have what most other reward sites offer.

Do you think the program is worth the hassle? How quickly do you earn rewards - like once a month, few months, etc??

I have done it for 2 years and currently have fewer than 3K points. I don't mind scanning or the price thing, either. They also send out surveys that pay points. It is very slow to add up, IMHO. Every month they run contests for points and prizes, and also quarterly contests. I would like it better if that didn't have the contests and gave you more points so you could cash out for something worth while. They do have GC and "things" which I don't need. You can cash out at 375 points, which took me 3 months to earn, if not more. Plus they can be very slow to credit survey points, I did a survey that ended in March and it took until last week to get the points credited.
