Shop Parks app charging tax

Is the Shop Parks app charging tax now? I live in Oklahoma and have never been charged tax before on the app, but when I made a purchase last night, it was added on.

Interesting...i think they can because they have affiliates in OK...disney store etc.

Collecting sales tax is based on Oklahoma law. If they don’t have a store in the state, they don’t have to collect it. Although you’re responsibility for reporting it and sending it in, hardly anyone actually does.

Is it possible they only just opened a store in Oklahoma? It looks like maybe they had one or two a few years back but closed them all.

As of May 1, 2017 Oklahoma law changed and requires online retailers to charge sales tax.

Thanks, I knew that it had changed. The only online retailer that I really noticed was Amazon that had begun charging tax. I had never been charged tax before until yesterday on the Shop Parks app. The person I spoke to at Disney wasn't sure why. I guess something changed at the beginning of they year.

I am wondering when ebay will start?

eBay doesn’t sell the items in their website, so they aren’t responsible for the tax. Each seller has to determine if they’re required to collect tax on your purchase.
