Shoot- my dryer won't dry!

If you need to buy a new dryer, I recommend not purchasing from Sears. We purchased a front load washer from them a couple of years ago. Had problems a couple month after purchase, it went. It took us almost 2 months of fighting with them and threatening lawsuit before they replaced it. When they delivered new one, the delivery person stated Sears does not stand by their appliances. They do not guarantee that they will work. I will never buy another thing from them. We needed to purchase a new dryer and it was delivered on Wednesday. There are 5 of us in my household and we purchased a Whirlpool dryer - 7 cubic something. I don't know my DH purchased it. It is the biggest one they have. Good luck with your purchase!

I had this same issue a few months ago. I found out that the foil-like vent hose behind the dryer was kinked, not allowing the dryer to properly vent. I simply pulled my dryer away from the wall a little (which allowed the foil-like vent hose to not be kinked), and it started working like a brand new dryer.

Maybe this same thing could be happening to your dryer?? Good luck!

We had this issue awhile back. dryer would run and tumble, but no heat. I did some searches on google and the sears driers like ours tended to blow out a relay after awhile. I ordered one online for like $7 shipped and after about 30mins to disassemble and replace the part it has been working fine. I figured I saved us at least a $150 service call or so.

We always use fixitnow.com (which couples with repairclinic.com) to figure out what might be the causes of our appliance problems. So far we have successfully fixed a washing machine (not agitating), a dryer (not drying), a ceiling fan (wobbling), and one of our ovens (noisy fan on the convection cycle). Our repairman charges $150 just to come out to see what the problem might be...so we decided to take some of the things into our own hands.

Most companies have the schematics of their products either in the product manual or somewhere on line so you can find part numbers. Good luck!!

Thanks for all the tips. The dryer turns on but does not heat up. DH spent some time cleaning out the lint filter last night. I think he got the outside vent too but I can't be sure since I wasn't home. He couldn't get it to work so he scheduled a repair man for today. I would be happy if it could be fixed instead of needing to be replaced. It is an LG brand.

My bet is it's the heating element. As I said, I had the exact same problem.
