Shoes???

:cheer2:

I've just bought myself some Floaties. They're amazingly soft and, as you can probably guess from the name, are also great for water parks.

Mine are magenta and they look really good.

I always wear my broken in Nike shoes, they don't give me blisters and are comfortable to wear in the parks. Make sure you get something that won't blister or make your feet uncomfortable. The first time we went to WDW I wore a brand new pair of shoes and my feet hurt me all the time. New Balance and Nike are the best for me. :cool1:

I think I may check into the crocs as well. I guess I should have been a little bit more explanatory in my OP. I don't mind looking "dorky" at Disney but I hate the thought of spending a lot of money on shoes that I will not wear but a handful of times. In my normal life most of my shoes are very uncomfortable and unfortunately me feet suffer for that. I just didn't want to do that on vacation too however I didn't want to buy expensive shoes that I wouldn't wear again either. I do appreciate all the suggestions and I will be going this weekend to check some out. Thanks again.
I agree about this but i think the resale of crocs on ebay is worth buying just for my trip. I've been wearing them around town running errons the past 3 days now and so far no foot pain, also wore then out gardening last night, I really can't believe how light they are!!! Also the sandle modle doesn't look 1/2 as dorky as the full shoe modle IMO! :)

Funny story...
Went to Disneyland Paris in 1998. EVERY GIRL, I mean every girl wearing high heels. Even the ones wheeling around their strollers. But also it was November and cold! I guess over there they only care about fashion!

Merrell are terrific and not cheap, but worth the money.

Crocs are funny looking but my husband swears by them.

Keen (?) I think I got that right, make great looking comfy sandles, again $80-100 per pair like Merrells.

Sketchers sneakers. I plan on bringing three different pair down (in case one starts to bug me) and they have all been worn for about a week or so to break them in. I have cute outfits but dorky shoes. I don't care. There's nothing worse than ruining your feet on the first day and then having to deal with it all week.

Besides, I told my boyfriend any picture of me that shows my shoes will be promptly deleted from the digital camera. :teeth:

There's always photoshop as well. I love technology. :sunny:
I don't think that people notice other peoples shoes while they're in WDW, at least I never noticed anyone else's shoes. I was so busy on trying to see everything.

Ok, I know this sounds crazy but both my dd who was 6 and I wore flip flops the entire trip and never had sore feet! I have a great pair of Nike flip flops that feel awesome. You can get them at kohl's or major department stores. The are all black with a white nike swoosh. Kohl's had black one's with hot pink or lime green trim. I would recommend those if you are flip flop lover :teeth: Personally, I think flip flops are the greatest things ever :cool1:

Thats all my DD and myself wear in the parks and have never had any problems with tired feet, but I also have to say that our feet are used to flip flops because that is basically all we wear in the summer. I also like how we do not have to worry about wet feet on the rides also.

MY husband has a pair of Tevas that he wears and says those are very comfy. He cannot wear flip flops because he says his shoes have to be
'hooked' onto his feet :confused3

:listen: Actually, not to scare anyone but I found this one site somewhere while searching for cool Disney sites. This guy takes pictures of bad/crazy/uncomfortable shoes at the parks and puts them on his site. How embarassing would THAT be!

:rotfl2: SEE!!!! What is the website. I would love to see that. You know what will be sad is if I have some of the shoes on there. :earseek:

I wish I still had it. I'm sure if you google around you can find it though. It was hysterical, but some of the feet grossed me out, I've got to tell you. SNEAKERS ALL THE WAY!!!

I have to agree with your husband....I don't feel as bad now knowing that I'm not the only on...LOL

Also I have seen that website about ugly shoes as well I think it's badshoes.com

The website is badshoe.com

The creater is actually a DIS member, and they have links to some very funny trip reports, too.

I LOVE my Keens. They are fast becoming the only brand shoe I wear.

My girls both have Crocs and wore them to WDW on our trip last week, but even though they have worn them almost all summer at home they both got horrid blisters from the Crocs where the "hinges" are for the backstrap. They switched to their Keens and Tevas and were fine - no problems with those shoes. Beware of the Crocs. I was really surprised that they caused these blisters and really glad we had extra good quality shoes with us.

I know people are really into "breaking in" their shoes, but I think if you buy the correct size you don't have to. I learned that by going up 1/2 to one full size, my feet are so much happier and there is NO break in period. I know I am in the minority here, but it has definitely worked for me. I used to get blisters at WDW all the time, but not anymore. I can wear my Keens straight from the box (my girls did, too) and be absolutely comfy for a WDW trip.

Along with Keens, I like Birkenstocks, Tevas, Born, Clarks, and Merrells. Some Sketchers are nice and comfy, too. BEWARE of those Crocs.

Good luck! There is no place for sore feet at WDW! ;)

I have to agree with the previous poster about Keens! They are the MOST comfortable shoes I've ever worn!!!!

I will be wearing my ever well-loved clarks slides. These are the best shoes I have ever owned. They may be old but they have never failed me yet
I also plan to bring my sketchers sandals. These have a thick cushion on the bottom that make you taller (yay!) and make it seem as though you are walking on a cloud. Not sure if they still make them this way as I bought them in 2001. If they don't for shame! These are great shoes!
  :cheer2: :wave2:

Boy there sure are some homely looking comfortable shoes out there! I know how the OP feels about buying a pair of comfy shoes that I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear here at home. It's almost impossible to find and just couldn't bring myself to wear most of them! (Okay, I'm vain!)

I do have a pair of clarks that are not bad looking (not too grandma-ish) they are very comfy and I wore them to Las Vegas last year.

Ok after all the wonderful suggestions I finally bought a pair of shoes. DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....boring old New Balance sneakers!!! I found a cute pair that were on sale. I have another pair of New Balance shoes but they are like 5 years old. I did try on some Clarks and Murrells but for the time of year we are going I figured it would be better to have sneaks. Thanks again for all your help. I may still buy something else, I'll keep you posted.

Aerosoles has some great sandals they are part of a series called "tred" have great cushion. I've even wore Aerosole boots with a 2 3/4 inch heel in the parks and my feet didnt hurt. You can go to a local retail store or even their website. www.aerosoles.com

Good luck!

Fashion? I'm not that concerned about fashion when I'm in the parks. I have a herniated disk so I'm all about comfort when I have a lot of walking to do. I wear my favorite Nikes and hope that I'm photographed from the waist up!!!
