I love flip flops.
I wear those year round, except when I'm barefoot.

I hate closed shoes.
I hate expensive shoes even more!

Can anyone suggest a good, supportive sandal for chasing a toddler around wdw for 5 days?
Xo

Keens! They dry fast, have good support and the fit is customizable. They are ugly as sin, but that's not the important factor. They were a lifesaver when we were there a couple of weeks ago, and it rained a ton. We would have been miserable in tennis shoes or flip flops.

Looking them up now. :)
Trip is in just over a month do I want to get something now and break it in.

Some of them are cute, but a little pricey from the mfr site. Maybe I can find them cheaper elsewhere..

You sound just like me!!!!!!! I've been trying to figure out what shoes I'm going to wear- as I've made the mistake of wearing flip-flops walking around all day & extensively into the night in Las Vegas. :rotfl2: Big mistake. At least I know better this time!

I second Keens. I am also a flip flop girl and have tried it at Disney before, not a good idea. Then running shoes, too hot and got soaked in the rain. Next trip got Keens. I got the ones that strapped in the back and yes they are unbelievably ugly. My MNL has the backless which I wish I had gotten, you get more of a flip flop feel but still have the support of Keens.

These tend to run a little on the expensive side but I am in love with my Olukai and Sole flip flops. They had been recommended on the boards so I checked them out and I am in love. I think the Sole's will be a little better for the parks but I do like them both. I have worn one pair or the other every day since I bought them in the beginning of June and they are super comfortable. They both took some breaking in but.not much more than 3 days of wear or so. I was dealing with some foot swelling when I got the Olukai so the straps rubbed quite a bit. I put some body glide on and I was good to go. The Sole's didn't cause me any strap rubbing issues but the first night I wore them I walked about 2 miles. My feet were killing me but I was expecting it. The high arch and heel cup took some getting used to, which caused my foot pain. Now I have no problems and am sad that it is starting to get chilly on the east coast because flip flop days are coming to an end.

I checked out a ton of sites to find mine on sale a few years ago. There was no way I was paying full price for something I would only wear on vacation. If you are willing to go for a loud color, you can get a better deal. Orange happens to be my favorite color, so I got mine in that color. I would highly recommend trying a pair on before buying. They have two styles which are very similar. Online I liked one better than the other. When I tried them on the one I thought I liked cut into my foot (my foot is extremely boney, so this my just be a problem for me).

I'll have to try some locally. I have high arches. Not sure if that's the case of my heel pain when I wear crappy shies for an extended time.

My favorite theme park shoes used to be some earth spirit strappy sandals I bought at Walmart but that was back in 07 and those shoes are long dead.

I bought Croc brand flip flops to wear around WDW. I broke them in at home (very comfortable) but within three hours of being at WDW, the combination of humidity and my toe rubbing on that material, I got a giant blister! Never happened at home, but it was less humid at home. Be warned!

I use Keens all the time as I have foot issues, including numerous foot surgeries. I am planning on bringing them with me in December. I might bring sneakers too but haven't decided the best brand yet.

That's a good tip, but for me I live even further south than Orlando. It's actually more humid here. ;)

I would recommend bringing two pairs of shoes/sandals/flip flops or whatever you decide on. My daughters and I were there during Monsoon season lol (August) and got caught in a sudden downpour - sneaks got soaked and wouldn't dry because of the humidity.... Omg did, they stink after. We threw them away and we wore our beach sneaks/water shoes the rest of the time.

Based on advice from a thread like this, I bought Teva Tirras before our August trip. They were great! No feet problems at all. I think they were about $50 on Amazon (or maybe Zappos?) They dried very quickly after rain or water rides.

I wear flip flops everywhere that I can. I wore a pair of nike flip flops last time we went to Disney. I purchased a new pair of Nike comfort flip flops (they have memory foam on the sole). I have been wearing them for walks all summer.

I am also bringing my skecher go walks with me. They are hideous, but very comfy. I'm only bringing these because my husband insists on me bringing other shoes just in case.

Vionic Tides.....I pretty much live in them after learning of them years ago on this board. They are pricey but SO worth it. I have high arches and cannot get away with cheap shoes as much as I'd love to. You won't regret having them at Disney though!

I am also a big proponent of the Vionic Tides. I have 3 pairs. I have plantar fasciitis and high arches and these have been a lifesaver. I also love Nike sneakers. They have great support.

I've had every brand mentioned in this thread except Vionic.
Have never heard of them until now - tonight I went on-line to read about the orthaheel, which sounds like a shoe my feet might like.

Going to look for a mary jane style. Thank you for the suggestion!

update - I placed an order for a pair of Vionic rhythm walkers - a sneaker.
Ordered them in red - to match my magic band. :) Hope they work - holy moly, they were almost a car payment. :lmao:
