Shoes, shoes, shoes!

I will be bring my Sketcher GoWalks 2, Brooks Pure Cadence and my rocket dog sandals! 2 out of 3 already broken in for September.

I have the Sketchers Go Walks but while I find them very comfortable I would never be able to stand them in the heat of Florida. The foam makes my feet boil. I love them in the spring fall winter but I live in Texas in the heat and I cant stand how hot they get. I never notice hot feet when I wear my tennis shoes out on a walk but just walking around the house in the Go Walks memory foam I kick those suckers off every chance I get because they are hot!

Hahaha!!! This reminds me of a funny story. When I was a kid...my Mom used to swat us with her "thongs"...meaning flip flops. I have told my kids this several times over the years. A few years ago I told the story again and my son finally said ...Mom, that is nasty. I cannot picture Grandma ripping her thong off and swatting people with it...that is just nasty....of course, he thought it was a "thong", the underwear type. So funny...he thought that for years. The younger generation doesn't understand I guess...haha
:-)

My favorites are:

For dry days...the Nike Comfort Thong Sandal (Thong is actually in the name of the shoe!)...They are super comfy and don't take a long time to break in...
For wet days...the Nike Celso Thong Sandal...I will say that they can get a bit slippery when they are soaked but they do dry quickly...

LOL! :rotfl2:

This thread makes me think of the bamboo flip flops from the 70's. Anyone else wear those back in the day?

I wear tevas or keens. I don't like flip flops--too easy to stub a toe or slide off of it when walking fast. Crocs just don't fit me right (I have a somewhat narrow foot) so they aren't comfortable for me.

I just found the best shoes! I have feet that swell and always feel stuffed into shoes. I just got some Stretchies by FootSmart. They are so comfortable! I had to send the first pair back, they run small. I wear an 11 and had to buy a 12. They do make my feet sweat slightly but I do wear them without socks. I have a hammertoe and arthritis in my feet and have a very difficult time finding comfortable shoes. Stretchies work for me!

Thanks! These sound like the perfect shoe for my friend who is going with us to WDW in October. She has same issues as you.

Please let me know! I am on my feet all day most days for work, and usually wear flip flops till my toes freeze and I can't take it anymore.

I've been wearing them now for a couple of weeks and they are awesome so far!! We leave for WDW Aug 22 so I'll report back on how they hold up!

So I know it's been done before but what are your go-to shoes at Disney World?

I use any sneaker I want but I have the inserts that I put into them. Nothing fancy on the inserts, just the dr scholls option that you stand on the machine for it to tell you which ones to buy. I generally go with a good walking/running sneaker as they generally are airy and dry faster with a low cost second pair to use while they are drying. The catch22 of this is of course they let water in when you do get wet and the chances of dry socks is impossible so you need to have socks with you to change.

My recommendation if you do get inserts, do it when your feet aren't bothering you or swollen, it'll have a different result if your feet are already bothering you. Also like any new sneaker you need to break them in so plan to get them early and use them before you have to do the daily walking marathon at disney.

I also used to have feet that swelled up when I walked a lot, they stopped happening when I had the proper insert in my shoe.

Fit Flops are all I take now. You have to get the suede ones to avoid thing rubbing between your toes, but they are so comfy. I also size doen from my usual 9 to an 8. I tried them on recommendation from teacher friends and they were spot on about comfort for hours on your feet.

Basic traditional crocs, or something more fancy? Thanks!

I wore Croc flip flops for our September trip two years ago. They were the BEST. I had planned to alternate them with my athletic shoes, but I ended up wearing them every day, all day. They are the kind with leather uppers, so they were comfy (and not entirely ugly) and I broke them in during the summer before our trip. I still wear them a lot.

My son wore his regular sneakers - they were "new" but well broken in. Feet swell in the heat and as the day goes on, so I wanted to make sure he had some extra room in them before all the walking. I took his flip flops (cheapies from Children's Place) for Kali. We just switched his shoes out before he rode and we didn't have to worry about wet shoes. We did the same for DH - just took his cheap (and lightweight) gym shower flip flops for Kali.

Our next trip will be during the fall. We'll again be doing sneakers for the kids. Even on hot days, we'll likely do something like Keens. I just can't deal with the idea of a non-closed toe shoe on them.

I always wear Keens, the Newport H2 are my favorite. They fit like a tennis shoe, they have great arch support and are very comfortable. They are made to get wet......I make sure the whole family has a pair that fits before we head to Disney. They are great on the water rides and during the afternoon rain showers!

Hubby and I have our Teva's and our girls wear Sanuk flip flops (yoga mat material on the bottom).

Wore Skechers Go Walks on our last trip and will never wear another shoe in WDW again. So comfy and not a single blister, which is rare for me! We didn't get super wet (no Kali), but I was fine in them after a front row ride on Splash Mountain.

another vote for skechers go walks....wore them from time I got up until the time we went to bed...no problems at all

I wear Rockport walking shoes. They have good support and cushiony insole. I did wear them around for a bit before taking them to WDW and shoved some rolled up socks into them for a couple of days to stretch the leather a bit. Sprayed with a good leather protector prior. I bought two pairs for our trip in 2008 and I still have them and use them for most of our cruises (where we walk a lot) and for WDW and for every day use. I've also since bought two other pairs in different colours and styles. I suffer from a chronic problem in the IT bands in my legs so a good shoe with support and comfort is critical. They can be expensive but are well worth the cost and last for a long time (there is an outlet store near us so that helps too).
