Shoes, shoes, shoes!

Lightweight, comfort, fast drying, and look..Roshe Runs

Just bought some Keen Whispers. So comfy. Something like Body Glide is great rubbed between the toes and on heels f you do wear tennis shoes. I like 2 pairs of shoes. I'm bringing the Keens and tennis shoes. I've never gotten blisters since using my Body Glide.

I also just got some Nike Free 5.0 at Academy. they are super light weight but seem supportive w/ good arch support to me.

How are the Roshe Runs or Free 5.0 in the rain? (I know CAS239 said "fast drying.") I've had so much good luck with Nikes (my Air Pegasus shoes are still my favorite park shoes), I'd love to have some "rainy day" Nikes (shoes, not flip flops).

I've tried on some Keen Whispers and may end up investing in a pair before next April, but I know I'll have to do some breaking in/getting used to them. First non-winter trip this year, and I was really blindsided by how hard it rained a couple of times.

Yes, Flips Flops from the Dollar Store. (Sorry, I'm old and we use to call them thongs.....I realize that term is used differently now).

I am right there with you on the "thongs" thing. I still think of them (the shoes) that way.

For theme parks during the warm months I wear Keens and Merrells. Both provide excellent support, comfort and dry quickly in case of a light afternoon shower!

Nike flip flops. I could barely walk after my first day in Keens. The pain in my achilles and knee was terrible. Switched back to my Nike flip flops and I haven't had a problem since.

I require arch support so regular flip flops and Crocs are out for me - my feet would be killing me.

My fave sandals are my Keen Newport H2. They protect the toes but can get wet and dry pretty quickly.

My fave running shoe/sneaker brand is Asics - the Asics Gel Nimbus 17 and the Asics Gel Kayano 20 are my current styles. Because the top of these are meshy, they also dry quickly if they get wet.

I switch between the two styles to give my feet a break from wearing socks everyday.

I swap between my old school Crocs and my Keens Whispers and my Reef "Slap" flip flops depending on park, time of day, weather... Never sneakers, especially in the heat.

Note the Reefs have to be the Slap style, the others don't have the great non slip soles or the extra cushioned heel that makes these the best flip flops I've ever owned.

We usually go during warmer weather but our next trip is in December and this thread has me thinking about what we'll need for shoes... I hate for my feet to be cold so I may have to consider wearing Crocs with socks or socks with my Keens! Better to be comfy than fashionable.

Edit - the Slaps are Reefs not Keens

I got my toddlers Stride Rite sandals that can go in the washing machine. They can be worn with or without socks.
I got my older son Merrell water shoes, but I wouldn't recommend them just because the little fastener broke in like one week.
DH will not wear sandals, so he just wore his old running shoes.
I had two different pair of Tevas, I really loved them.
(We went in mid-late June)

I alternate between my Teva Mush flip flops, Croc flip flops and Skechers Go Walks. My first trip I wore strictly sneakers and I regretted it. I actually bought the Crocs flip flops at WDW on our second day because my feet didn't want sneakers for another day. This last time I did the switching around and I'll never do it another way. Not a single blister. Just be sure to sunscreen the top of your feet if you wear flip flops. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything...

I really like my crocs flip flops. That said, they just don't have the support of sneakers for long days on my feet. I am fine in them for 1-2 days then I need my sneakers. Plus, I can move faster in sneakers.

For water rides, I have done the "toss lightweight flip flops in my bag and change up" trick right before and then switch shoes again after. Or else plan it for a short day so we don't walk too long in them and know we are headed back to the hotel shortly afterwards.

BTW, since you're considering shoes, I'm sure you've also thought about clothes. Do NOT wear denim or any other heavy material. They will NOT dry and can chafe your skin badly. Dryfit or nylon clothes will dry quickly. We often wear cotton t-shirts and while they don't dry that quickly, they're not horrible as long as we wear bottoms that dry quick.

WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO TRY, WEAR THEM EXTENSIVELY BEFORE GOING TO WDW.

Much is going to depend upon YOUR bodies and YOUR feet.

I'm 50 years young and I don't dare go near asphalt anywhere without proper running shoes. Crocs EAT my knees even just wearing them inside the house. I have narrow feet and the Keens etc. do not fit me. _I_ can't imagine at day in the parks with thongs/flip flops, but I know they work for many. Remember that the impact of your feet goes allll the way up your spine.....

I just got some Mary jane type Tevas. Once I break them in and stop getting blisters from their newness, they'll be PERFECT! Waterproof, great support, thick rubber sole. Just gotta get past this dumb blistering stage on one foot. The other foot is fine. :-/

Any tips?!?

When I have teva straps that rub on one foot, i stretch the fabric with something. Get them wet and shove whatever hard object I can into the spot that rubs and leave it until it dries. A rock, a solid ball, whatever.

The most comfortable flip flops for me in the parks are my Crocs vezzy flip flops. Good support, non slip when wet and they dry quickly. I alternate with my Keen Bali slides, Teva mush and crocs meleen sandals. I've had surgery on both my feet so I need something with support.
I also use Bandaid anti friction stick because the humidity and wetness from rain is not something my feet are used to. I got blisters last October when it rained all afternoon in Epcot one day. On our trip in May, none of us got blisters when we used the anti friction stick. It's like a tiny body glide stick and so small it fits in a bag or pocket easily. I highly recommend it no matter what shoes you chose.
