Anyone got any good ideas for good shoes to take? I get real problems with the arch of my feet if I wear completly flat insoled shoes for too long. I have seen some new sandle type Crocs that have come out, anyone tried them?

I dont really want to wear full on trainers and socks and then have to walk around with soggy feet for the rest of the day if they get wet on water rides!! :sad2:

i just bought a pair of those reebok flip flop things (like fitflops) they are soooo comfy i shall be taking those, i'm also gonna get a pair of crocs, IMO they are not the most glamerous shoe but i dont care they are comfortable!

I have the nice style crocs (not the cloggy kind!) and they're heaven! You can get them in all sorts of styles, I like the slip on ones, but you can get ones with heels, sandles, flip flips etc

A definite necessity for Florida!

I have quite a high arch, and have never had more comfortable shoes than my FitFlops.

I have 3 pairs now, and my Mum has 2, so when we go to WDW that's all I take!

Never do my feet hurt at all, even if I wear them from 7am-midnight! They're the only shoes I've had that you don't get the "ahhhhh" relief feeling when you take them off, as they are just SO comfy!

Praying it's warm when we're in DLRP so I can wear them!

My wife bought some croc's at the florida mall's outlet.

here are the ones : http://www.crocs.com/crocs-womens-hover-lace-up/11949,default,pd.html?cid=63V

they look a bit like those converse shoes.
DW says they're so light on her feet that she barely is aware she has shoes on. She really appreciated them in the parks

Her only regret is to not having bought more pairs while she was in WDW (as they are about twice as expensive in france)

but most of all, get several pairs of whatever shoes you bring or buy.
Changing shoes can be a real relief

FitFlops, definitely. I have to wear arch supports in normal shoes but, like you, I prefer not to wear socks in the parks because I like to have cool feet! FitFlops are super comfy (especially if you get the ones with the backs, so you don't have to worry about walking out of them!), plus they give your legs a cheeky work out. Love them.

Have you thought about having your feet analyzed for arch support inserts or orthotics? I had this done at a local running store and now wear inserts in my running shoes and sneakers and I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes!!

As far as flip flops, Fit Flops and Olukais are among those that use the "negative heel" principle that really helps, too. In fact I think I may need to look for some new ones here pretty soon ;-)

I wear birkenstocks - gizeh style - I wear them all summer anyway and find them ideal for florida.

Birkenstocks have a raised foot bed in them so may give you the support you are after. Just be mindful if you have wide feet though as they come up the sides very slightly and could cause blisters.

I tend to wear Birkenstocks and find them so comfortable. You would have to remove them though on rides like Soarin and pop them in the basket.

I've never had FitFlops but my friend swears by them. I am tempted to buy them for this trip though as they can look quite smart too.

As a matter of interest Costco are stocking both FitFlops and Birkenstocks at the minute if you are a member. :thumbsup2

I don't know if it is just because of my job (hairdressing) and that I have been doing it for nearly 9 years I don't get achy feet no matter what I wear! I am probably just dead from the ankle down! But I would love a pair of fitflops and my mum only wears fitflops she has the boots, shoes all styles! She swears by them!

i live in Birkis (made by birkenstock)

here's the pair i currently live in:

that's the company i order from (in germany).

they have the widest selection of birkenstock i've ever come across.

DH started ordering here first many years ago - he wears a 49, so is limited as to where he can buy shoes. This company even carries his size.
and for orders over a certain amount, shipping is free.

I'm the opposite - toe post all the way!

I usually get my birkenstocks in Costco - this year my local one had nothing bigger than a 7 - I need a 8/42.

costco doesn't usually carry the style i like (tahitian in the link i posted).

i like the softbed birks - i've never found those except online from germany.

if you look at the tahitian style, just a few of the colours are softbed.

i accidentally bought a softbed style one year...i didn't notice that in that colour, it was a softbed...sooooooooooooo comfortable...
they're just like regular birks - but it's just softer.....really nice..

and as i mentioned, DH has to buy his sandals online as no one carries a size big enough for him. he's an american men's size 14, or european size 49.

i'm an american women's size 8, which is a european size 38.
very easy for me to find the size that i need, but the styles of birks are pretty limited in most places.

DD wears an american size 11 extra narrow (AAA narrow), which is european size 42. She has an impossible time finding shoes that are long enough and narrow enough for her.
if you saw her video, you might have been able to tell how tall she is....and thin....and her feet are terribly long and thin too

I don't like socks and trainers in that heat either so I wear Birkenstocks constantly. Comfy, arch support and cool.:thumbsup2
