I know there are several threads about what shoes to wear in Disney. I have gone five times and wore crocs with no blisters and did great. The problem is I don't wear crocs anymore and in the last five years have developed some heel pain. Any suggestions on what would work well? I am looking toward Teva Tirra sandals. Anyone like these? I have a good pair of sneakers but they don't seem to do well on my heels. Please help!

I wear good running shoes, but more importantly I stretch out my achilles regularly. My heel pain has completely disappeared the last couple of years. You might want to look into shoe inserts for heels (for plantar fascitis). My DH had custom made ones for his. My bigger problem is achy legs and feet after a day in the park now.

Like the PP said, you HAVE to stretch your calves, everyday. You will be amazed by the difference it makes. I also added Powerstep Pinnacle into my sneakers, what a difference. I have tried the regular and the Maxx, I like them both but prefer the Maxx. They are available through Amazon for around 30 bucks. Don't forget to remove the insert that comes in your sneaker first, they aren't glued in (unless they are really cheap sneakers). If you add them into the shoe without removing what is there the sneaker will be too tight. They make a world of difference.

Stretch, stretch, stretch, and then stretch again - especially when you first wake up.

I had plantar fasciitis. Teva Hurricanes were about the only shoe that i could wear. After wearing them for a 3 day, 60 mile walk, my PF was gone!! I mean gone gone!! That was 4 years ago and not a single pain since. I hate wearing running shoes, my feet are always uncomfortable, no matter what!! I still wear my tevas on a daily basis, i even wear them for my runs!!

Thank you for the suggestions! I have never had foot problems walking around Disney and have been really worried.

It sounds like plantar fasciitis. A good pair of inserts would be your best bet. Do you have time to go to a foot doctor before you leave? They are expensive, but make your feet feel wonderful!

I might be able to see a doctor.I have tried inserts but I think I may need to try different ones.

Thanks! Going to try some on tomorrow

I am partial to Keens to help with my mild plantar fascitis. I also just got a pair of Asics Gel Nimbus that I am a little bit in love with.

Other things I've heard are great are Orthatheels, Taos, Naot, and Acorn. Barkingdogsshoes dot com has a lot of great information on cute shoes for all kinds of foot problems.

Thanks!

I too suffer heel pain and so does my friend (who saw an md for her feet) we both bought orthaheel sandals. I bought the tide flip flops to wear as house shoes and the first couple of days the tides hurt my feet (at the arches)- i almost sent them back, but now I love them! So make sure you break them in before disney. My friend's doc recommended that she never go barefoot around the house. I wear Dansko shoes to work and it has helped. I am not sure what I will be wearing for our upcoming trip. Good luck.

I bought great, cushy shoes for our trips to WDW, and while they were great on my feet, my heels were SO painful by the last day of our trip. When we went to DL, I alternated between those and Birkenstocks. I had no pain at all with the Birkenstocks!

Brooks Adrenalin Running Shoes $100 to $140 but well worth it. I'm 100#'s overweight and pain began when 25#'s overweight but after cortisone injections and orthotics along w/ more weight gain I discovered Brooks Adrenalin. They are the first to stop the pain after 3 days of wear.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have never liked to wear tennis shoes because of the heat in Disney but we are going in November this time.

I have Sketchers lite material with a memory foam worked great last week. Also Clark's sandals I got off HSN but they have hem in the store with a cross Velcro strap and slight foam. I added heel pad. Then, I have my Crocs Mary Janes. I need to switch off shoes mid day. Even the Nike with the memory foam were great, but any one of them all day killed me.

I should have worn the sneakers with memory foam a few weeks before. I wore them but not long periods....they rubbed at the top of my ankle. I put a moleskin in the back heel and blister bandaid with over the ankle sock the next time I spent he day in them.
I love gel pads in the heels, but the memory foam n sole conquered the heel impact or me.

I have broken all the metatarsals in both feet as well as both ankles in a car accident in '85 and have had lots of trouble with my feet ever since. Birkenstocks are about the only shoes I can wear, they are excellent for heel pain, they have what is called a heel cup and it pushes the natural fat pads on your heel under the bone for natural cushion. If you do try some, be sure to wear them at least a month before your trip because there can be a break in time.

Do yourself a favor and get some keens!!! We went to the local shoe store in search of Teva's and were advised by the salesman to try the Keens. I was not thrilled that he wanted to change my mind, but could not thank him enough for talking me into Keens. Our entire family now wears keen sandals every trip!!! :worship: We also take our I Sqeeze massager from brookstone:woohoo:. My feet were hurting so bad I had to roll out of bed on to my knees until I could stretch them out enough to stand:scared1:. The I Sqeeze fixed that problem as well. Hope this helps! Whatever you go with, will feel better in Disney!!! Have a blast.
