Shoes for the parks maybe flats?UPDATE post 66

I have both and I wear them with jeans in the spring, well more the second pair because the first pair is open toe but in early fall when it's still warm I'll wear the first pair with jeans. I have never worn them in Disney but I have no arches and feet always hurt but not when I wear these.

But you're not going to be less comfortable carrying a cross body bag or wristlet instead of a fanny pack. Wearing shoes that are cute but not comfortable could lead to sore feet or worse, blisters, which makes for a miserable trip.

Right - but the whole point of this is to find something that's BOTH. I wore a pair of nice ballet flats all day and it was fine. I mean, I could've walked around in crocks, a fanny pack, misshapen shorts and an oversized t-shirt but I chose cute, comfortable flats and a dress. I was comfy, cool and put together. You can be comfortable and not have to look sloppy.

Agreed. I refuse to look dumpy when I'm paying for Memory Maker. I switch shoes every day (rotating). Summer is easier to look cute because I can wear shorts. Even my keens don't look hideous with shorts. But with skinnies? I need cute shoes. I've been wearing my Tieks everywhere and I think they'll be good park shoes. I have the cardinal red ones - got them on sale.

Hence the reason I never where skinny jeans and I wear comfy to me tennis shoes. I would love for a comfy flat option to wear on occasion if the OP can find one. We are park commandos (did 16 straight hours several times during the holidays) and never had a blister. Want to keep it that way and still look nice in the process.

I would update the post once I break in shoes and after our vacation. I ordered the Cole haan Bacara flats (they have the nike air technology) two of my friends swear by them. Of course neither one has use them for Disney, but one actually wore them on a europe vacation that had lots of walking. I ordered some reef flats. I was going to order toms but since it might rain I don't want to risk getting cold feet.

I'll be wearing nike free runners they have great support and look fairly stylish for a sports runners. They're very light weight with loads if support as well. Google them for pics I love the look of them! Hope this helps!

How about Toms? They look cute with skinnies and probably more comfortable than a ballet flat. I also own a pair of flats that are similar to ballet flats, but made by Puma so they have a little thicker of a sole and are more "sporty" I guess. Whatever you get, I highly recommend breaking them in well before your trip - I have learned this lesson the hard way!

I didn't wear flats, but I did wear my Reef flip flops. I wore them to every park every day. I tried, one day, to wear my gym shoes and they started to rub the back of my heel as we were walking out to the car. Went back inside and changed. I love love love my Reef flip flops. They have arch support and are very comfortable.

I usually wear Keen sport sandals almost every day at WDW, but last year at DLR we both wore Nike comfort flip flops that have this super thick gel padding stuff on the sole, they are pretty amazing. They don't last very long for $30 flip flops, but they saved my feet at both DLR and walking the Vegas strip.

You could get solid flats and get those gel inserts! That's another option I'm looking at.

You might have a different experience but I CANNOT with those gel inserts. One of my favorite pairs of flats are SUPER flat. Like, zero support or cushion at all. I bought a set of the blue gel inserts by Dr. Scholls and I was sliding off of the gel all day! I felt like I was going to fly out of my shoes.

I like the blue ones with the grey soles by Dr. Scholls (They are "for work"). They feel more solid than the fully gel ones and it doesn't make me feel like I'm falling out of my shoes, lol.

This is not a binary choice: A.) look cute but be uncomfortable OR B.) be comfortable and look dumpy.

It's entirely possible to do look nice and dress in practical clothing.

But hey, if someone wants to put fashion above comfort, be my guest. Live and learn. You asked for advice, and have gotten some pretty good suggestions. If it's not advice you wish to follow, then don't.

Have you considered TOMS (or any of the similar huarache-type shoes)? I think footwear choice is a very individual thing. Personally, I hate wearing sneakers for long periods of time, especially in warm weather. TOMS work for me, and I find them much more comfortable than sneakers, but I know some people like to have more supportive shoes when doing a lot of walking/standing.

I know so many people love Toms but I wore them on vacation in San Francisco(lots of walking) and they hurt my feet terribly, even though they were broken in and I don't generally have feet problems. But all of that walking pushed my toes together too much. I ended up buying new shoes on vacation, not that I was upset about that.

I know you were not looking for sneakers but have you considered Superga or Tretorn sneakers? I got my Superga from Piperlime and my Tretorn from J.Crew. They look really cute with skinny jeans and are very comfortable for me. Also, I love my Sperry topsiders and will probably bring those with me to WDW this summer.

I agree, I'll wear my Tieks to a nice Resort dinner, but I have a weak right ankle and I just cannot wear them trekking around the Parks all day

I hate to say it, but the best Park shoes I ever owned were my Disney Crocs! Yes, they were hideous and a huge fashion faux pas, but my feet were happy as clams Unfortunately they broke several years ago and are no longer made. Now I just wear sneakers or Croc maryjanes...neither are great but they'll do.

For me, happy feet come first. If your feet are miserable, your trip will be miserable. Remember that episode of Modern Family when they went to Disneyland?

I typically wear Under Armour sandals. They are ridiculously comfortable and supportive and keep my feet happy. They aren't super stylish but they aren't te worst either. And I get plain black so in pictures, they don't really stand out one way or the other.

My sister and I have APs and we go frequently, and we both usually wear Reefs. I like the Sandy style, with the wider straps, but she bounces between different styles.

I saw a lot of people recommending Toms -- I haven't tried traditional Toms, but I did get a pair of their ballet flats when they were first introduced, and I was so disappointed. They were cute but offered no support, hurt my feet fast, and they got holes in the little toe area after just a few months of little wear.

For those of you who recommended reefs, which ones do you have? I went to 6pm and they have sooooooooo many! I like the skinny profile ones. Wondering if they are as comfy as the other ones.

I just ordered a pair of Skechers Go Walk shoes in gray. Hope they feel as good on my feet as they do on everyone else leaving the rave reviews. Thinking about trying the GoWalk2 just in case. Looking at the navy blue one. These look smallish to me while still providing support. With that said, I haven't actually seen these in person. Will report back after I try them out. I have a treadmill here waiting for them....
