My DS will be turning 3 on our trip. He is very independent and I know is going to want to walk himself as long as his little feet will let him :lmao:

I was wondering what shoes people have had success with for little ones. I have heard good things about Keen shoes, and even though they are expensive shoes for his little feet are definitely one of the things I am willing to spend more on for the trip!

Thanks for the tips!

We've always bought Stride Rite shoes. They are built for kids feet and often outlast my kids. I used to pay retail, which was upwards of $50 for a new pair of tennis shoes, but now we found the Stride Rite outlet. Twice a year we make a trip out there and buy all our shoe needs (then pray a growth spurt doesn't render them useless in a short amount of time). I've been able to purchase 2-3 pairs of shoes for what I used to pay for one pair. They are genunine Stride Rite, just last years model.

Stride Rite shoes are great! If there's an outlet near you, go there for really good prices.

My DD also usually wears Stride Rite, but for summer sandals, I LOVE HER KEENS!! They are sandals, also like tennis shoes, they do okay when they get wet, excellent toe coverage too! They are also easily cleaned - I just take a little toothbrush and scrub them when needed with a little bit of soap. They look brand new.

The ability to get wet and be okay is the main reason I was leaning towards Keens--- he is going to gravitate to anything with water :lmao:

When DS was that age, I could often find Kamik water sandals at Marshall's, or sometimes Merrells.

Whatever he is wearing comfortably at home should be what you bring for him to wear in the parks. Don't bring something new, that's when you get into trouble with blisters.
Sneakers and socks are your best bet. We always throw the girl's keen sandals in the backpack in case feet get wet or for them to change into 1/2 way through the day. But my girls are used to wearing their Keens. There is a break-in period with these. So if you choose them, have him wear them for a couple of weeks at home with socks on to break them in.

Thanks for the tip on breaking them in first! Great idea. I have a family friend who can get me a discount on Keens so I think I will try those for sandals for sure! Thanks again everyone!
