I've been reading quite a few threads on shoe recommendations for the parks, It seems the majority agree on New Balance... i'm wondering if the New Balance are good for flat feet ?? I rarely wear tennis shoes because they end up hurting my arch by the end of the day ! anyone know if the New Balance are good for flat feet or is there a better shoe?? TIA !!! :teeth:

I have very high arches and wide feet. I can't find them with high enough arches.

I was told recently the grasshopper brand tends to run flatter. They also make tennis type shoes but not the sturdy ones.

I am not sure about shoes, but my husband is on his feet all day when he works and has flat feet, so he had gone to his orthopedic doctor and had gotten special arches made. It is pricey, but it does help him.

I have flat feet too,and I have found that the only athletic shoe I can wear is a Saucony. They have several that are for over pronation, and the one I wear is Grid Stabile LE. The New Balance brand doesn't work for me. They feel fine in the store, but after a few hours I am in agony. And I have tried theirs for over pronation, with the same result.
There are also insoles for flat feet that can be used in regular shoes. They hold the toe up a little to correct the gait.
Try a web search under flat feet.

Flat feet, bunyuns even after surgery and wide feet...i have it all! Ok so Dr. Scholl's makes good shoes, they sell them at Walmart. They don't have the arch junk in them and it feels like clouds. They are black so if you don't want black shoes, I've found Reebok tennis shoes work best for me. They are roomy, inexpensive and very little arch. I also walk around in Birkenstock's everywhere! They have sandles, clogs and more. They can be pricey at times, look for outlets. They last forever, can be resoled and are designed for the actual foot shape. It conforms to your foot, not vice versa like every other shoe out there. Just go in a look at them, even if you don't buy, see the difference. They are experts at the store and insure you get a proper fit before you leave with your own size. I live in my Birki's!!!

I have flat feet. When I was in 4th grade I had to go to physical Therapy for them and had to have special orthodics made, the whole nine yards! My knee was turned out and my hip was headed that way! But it wasnt something you could tell just from looking at me, and I had danced since i was 3 years old!
Not to try and worry you or anything!!
Now, (17 y/o) I never wear my orthodics and rarely wear tennis shoes, only for a lot of walking. I have never tried new balance but I have some that are from walmart that I got a couple of years ago for band, so i wouldnt have to get my nice ones all nasty and band camp. They have been great shoes, espcially since they only cost $10!

Sorry that really didnt help you out too much! :)
Maybe someone will know some actual useful information!:jester:
Good luck!!!

I have fallen arches, and second getting a special arch made for tennis shoes. I have orthotics for my tennis shoes and they make all the difference. Check for "Foot Solutions" or similar shoe stores where they sell shoes for problem feet, or can make an arch support to fit whatever shoes you are most comfortable in. And if you have a tennis shoe with a removable shoe insert, they can make an arch support for it for about $25.

My posiatrist recommends for my flat feet either Nike or New Balance....I love Easy Spirit but they are killers on flat feet and I can't wear them anymore! I am always sure to buy my daughter good sneakers, foot Dr said if I start putting cheap payless crap on her for everyday use her feet will end up like mine! Only thing I will get at payless is Christmas shoes that she will only be wearing for an hour or so.

i'm flat footed and t he most comfortable shoes i have found are hte earth shoes at wal mart. i wear them to work all the time and they have enough different styles that your bound to find one you like:)
