I remember Wild Pair too.

When DH & I first started dating, we would cruise through the mall during our lunch hour. DH had a shoe fetish -- honestly. He use to pull me into the stores and have me try on all sorts of shoes. I bought what he liked back then ( ). I had more shoes than I ever needed. Now I wonder how I ever walked in them. Those heels were a killer.

Now, just give me a comfy pair of gym shoes and I'm all set. :D

We have a Bakers in the mall by us, but I remember loving Chandlers, Miles, and Thom McCan shoe stores. Now you can find Thom McCan shoes at KMart!

Florsheim..........sounds familiar.............must be for the upper class tho as I've never been inside one.

I believe Florsheim's were a MENS ONLY shoe store.:p Only MEN would go there, my Brother needed a pair for the prom, and my Mom spent around 40.00 for a pair.:earseek: Back than, that was a LOT--1972!:o I just paid 40.00 for a pair of leather slides at Bass Pro Shops here in Dania! Took forever to get waited on, and it was a lady, and she didn't even have to go in the back, the boxes were next to the display! I also remember Thom McCan too, and was surprised to find them being sold at Kmart 6-7 years ago.:o

Miles! Now there's a blast from the past. I had forgotten all about them. They were in every downtown shopping area. Oh wait, those are a blast from the past, too. :(

I think the reason these stores existed was that the shoe industry did not think the general public was smart enough to use the highly sophisticated foot measuring contraption .;)

Remember the "cheap" stores that did not have the high tech metal foot measurer (which measured length and width) but had the wooden ones that looked like a regular ruler with a block of wood glued on one end?

Did you ever have to try on shoes at K-mart which were

tied together with little rope and then try to walk in those shoes by taking little baby steps?

Oh I almost forgot, the most accurate device ever created to measure the fit of a shoe.....your mothers THUMB. I think I still have bruised toes from 35 years ago.

I think I still have mental scars from going shopping for Easter shoes as a child.

44sun,
I remember those stores...Red Goose Shoes!

"Half the fun of having feet is Red Goose Shoes!"

"Fayva...a different kind of shoe store, Fayva, a different kind of SHOE!" :teeth: ::yes:: WOW, I forgot all about that store!

Oh my goodness perdidobay!!! The magic mat! Do you remember the eggs?!? Did you have to wear the butt-ugly brown shoes too? I look back on pictures and cringe. Jeeze they were ugly!

Yup, I wore those "brown shoes"
I fondly remember the excitement of getting the eggs!

:rotfl: Me and every other female that walked in. But at least we would know it was done with loving care.
Hey, you might even think about doing that as a second job. ::yes::

Do you think all these females would let me put them on their feet?

I think a job in a women's shoe store would be your true calling, jvas. ;)

Would you let me put the shoes on you Jolie?:D
