I went shopping for shoes. We have 7 (hooooray!) days... and it has become tradition to get new walking shoes.
Boy, I coaudlnt find anythign except some generic slip on sneaker type things at Wal-mart! :guilty: I'll take my tried and true Adidas slip on things, but OUCH my feet always hurt so bad by mid day.

I can not do crocs. They hurt my toes NO MATTER what style, size.

Think I'll be in tears with walmart generics?

For me, a variety is key. So I have my crocs, I have my running shoes, and I might be buying some other shoes. Anything to keep my tootsies happy.

So curious how the crocs hurt your toes, of all foot parts to hurt?

I too like to change out my shoes. I have New Balance running shoes and my crocs sandals. The minute I get to the hotel I have some flip flops that I wear there.
I like the crocs Capris and have not experienced any toe problems with them. These are not closed toe in any way and are fashioned like flip flops.

I have a pair of Danskin tennis shoes (the khaki color) from Wal Mart that I could not live without. Feel wonderful, like walking on air!

I typically wear either my keds (more of a sporty walking type then the plain old type) or teva type sandals. I need a good arch support and I need wide shoes when my tired old feet start to swell.

I think we should designate the flagpole circle (good name huh?) on Mianstreet as the tired disfeet area. We could take our left shoe off as our sign that we somehow know each other. I know I will be standing on one foot like a flamingo toward the end of the day no matter what shoes I wear!!!

(If you think your wheelchair has been stolen, I've just borrowed it for awhile)

GREAT IDEA!
I rememebr last trip, I was wrapping wet wipes antibacterials around my toes while relaxing on the Pirates ride just to cool them off!

I wish I could wear some kind of sneakers in the parks. I have wide flat Donald Duck feet, and only Crocs seem to help with that. Any other sneaker I've tried end up causing me to get MAJOR blisters (likely from smashing my feet!). Completely stinks!

I was even "gellin" in my wide Nike's last June, and nope blisters and pain!

teacups, how long are you going to be at DL? I'm there for 5 days...look for me with my left shoe off or doing the flamingo stance. LOL

Hmm... surprised more people don't invest in really good athletic shoes.

I broke my right foot two years ago and was seeing a podiatrist for the better part of a year. I also have high arches. She's got me wearing New Balance running or walking shoes. I also wear Superfeet sole inserts, again on her recommendation. They make a huge difference. They are quite expensive (I've gotten them on e-bay for $24. a pair, and that's just about wholesale) but, oh my gosh, so worth it. I've tried gel inserts and there's just no comparison. They last a long time, too. Really make a difference. I really think you have to spend a little money to get decent shoes, especially for a trip like DL that is hard on your feet. Get them a few weeks in advance so you can break them in.

I never had problems with my feet on our trip in March.:thumbsup2

I didn't think New Balance was any different than any other shoe. They are mixed in with the Nike's, Rebocks, Adidas and every other brand where I shop. Nothing makes them stand out but the price.

I can't say enough about my Keen's, I wear them every time we go to DL and my feet never hurt! I do have high arches, and they fit my feet really well. I do take my New Balance shoes as well, but hardly ever wear them!

Do they make New Balance for wide feet? I pretty much don't have an arch, so forget any high arch problems. LOL I've paid good money for Nike's, Adidas, Reeboks ect.. It's the width that seems to always be the problem.

I'm not sure if they make New Balance for wide feet, but I think they do. I actually have relatively narrow feet, but my Mom has wide feet and she wears them.

They definitely make New Balance in wide sizes - some really big ones! I have a couple of pairs and they are great!

I swear by my Keens. I have several different styles and I love them all. I've worn them for years and just can't make myself wear anything else when I'm going to be on my feet for extended periods. My kids love theirs too. :)
