Going on the dream March 24th. It's just DBF and I, should I buy the shoe holder for the bathroom or will there be enough space??

Anything else I should pack as a first time cruiser!?

Thanks!

I have never used a shoe hanger and have always had plenty of space. I can see how it might be useful for those people who like to have everything out and perfectly arranged, but I don't think it is a necessity.

we always bring our shoe hanger it nice to have everything in one place to find not a big fan of having all of my bathroom stuff all over the counter and you can put all of your taning lotions in the hanger as well

For us, it just keeps everything organized and in one spot and easy to find. We each take a row of pockets. Also, if the ship rocks at all, we had things fall off the shelves in the bathroom.

We use one but you will be just fine without one.

Enjoy your cruise!

DW is a big fan of the "shoe holder".
I've got a razor, hairbrush, toothbrush & paste. Every other inch of space is hers. FWIW, :rotfl2:

I think this is really a personal preference. I brought one on my last cruise after reading so many times on here where people recommended it. I never ended up using it. Our shower stuff stays in the shower. Toothbrushes and toothpaste in a cup. I like to put makeup and cleansers back in my makeup bag after using them, so I never really found a need for it and will leave it home next time.

I should have added that I am the only girl in our cabin. My husband's toiletries are minimal and our boys really don't have any, so space is not really an issue. If I had two girls instead of two boys, it would be a different story and I can see why I'd need the extra space and organization.

I used to bring one but found on the new ships where the bed are elevated. I have not brought them in many years.

We just have two people and I loved having it. After having my husband ask "where's the sunscreen, chapstick, room card, tip money, toothpaste, camera ...." etc etc etc 10 times a day, he finally just started looking for everything there first before asking. :)

I found suction cup-type hooks handy to have for the back of the bathroom door so everyone could have their own hanging space for their PJs or hold their clothes while showering, etc. There seems to be plenty of shelf space that I don't find a shoe organizer necessary for the bathroom.

I have been impressed with all the storage space and have found no need for a shoe hanger.

When getting ready for our first cruise we read all the must have's for cruising. I must tell you, I've never bought so much for a vacation before. :rotfl2:
We ended up not using it at all. For the items that we didn't want laying in the bathroom, I put in the drawers outside the bathroom (on the Magic).
The best tip I got was to bring a lot of small bills, for room service tips & to make change easily at ports. I took even more small bills on our second trip.
Honestly, less is more. I took a lot less things our second cruise & plan to take even less our next cruise.

We brought one and used the heck out of it for both of our previous cruises (just 2 adults). And we plan to use it on our upcoming cruise (2 adults and 1 child).
As others have mentioned, it was just really nice to have it there when you walk into the room. It's a nice place to drop off your sunglasses, lanyards, camera, sunscreen... and it's also great for meds, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and anything else you want to keep organized.

We keep our shower stuff in the shower, but everything else stays in the shoe holder. I hate having to dig through a bag every time I need an item, but I also don't like cluttering up the counters. It all just fits neatly in one place, and everyone knows where their stuff is. And they pack flat, so it's not like you're taking up luggage space bringing one.

There are only two of us, but we used our shoe holder and loved having it. We kept, suncreen, sunglasses, room keys, camera, toiletries, tylenol, hairbrush, etc. We kept our toothbrushes and tooth paste in them as well. That way if someone was using one of the split baths, and you wanted to brush your teeth, you could just take the stuff out of the shoeholder and use the other bath.

I hate clutter and having things on the counter. We take a shoe holder on all our vacations. There is plenty of storage room if you don't mind keeping things on the counter. We just liked having everything in one place.

Thanks for all the responses!!! Can anyone confirm this for me..

I haven't gotten my luggage tags (DBF got his 2 weeks ago on Monday) and DCL just told me now that I have to wait 15-20 days before the new tags are resent but I can get generic ones at the Port. Will that hold us up??

She also said that they rip the tags off after the bags are dropped in the rooms...Is that True????

Thanks in advance!!!!

I went on my first cruise two weeks ago - I brought one and loved it. It was just me and two kids, but we didn't use it just for toiletries - everything went in it. We kept the cameras, ipods, cords, just everything in it. I have even now decided that it will go on all of my vacations - just kept everything off the desk because there isn't much space like that. Also on our last day the boat was rocking a little bit and well nothing fell because it was in the pockets.:thumbsup2
