Help
I was about to book my flights through VA today to travel out the 20/09/2010 till 4th october for 2 weeks economy. The price on saturday was £1201.00 for 2 adults and a child using my miles. Its now showing as over £2000 and no flights with m+m:scared1:!!!!!! And going on the 21st september was even more. Why such a huge increase. Is there a special day or something. Can go from gatwick for just ove £1400 but have to get there from wolverhampton. Can anyone suggest anything else .I had allowed around £1350 for flights and weas already to book today so totally disappointed:sad2: I can travel from birmingham and dont mind stopping ifas long as it is not a long stop as have a small child.Wayne if you read this I know you will come up with something.Want to do a cheap offsite on idrive somewhere with free transport to universal seaworld with access to resturants and then we are booking 8 nights at SSR in a one bedroom with free ddp. Dont want o miss the SSR offer but what do I do??? Wait to see if prices of flights drop or book something else.Looked on skyflight and VA. Thankyou in advance

Flight prices this year are crazy, try the normal ones opodo, expedia, kayak etc even in direct flights this year are crazy.

Welcome back by the way :thumbsup2

Just did a quick check on opodo - £1270 for the 3 of you with 1 stop over in amsterdam but not brilliant times

or

£1357.00 1 stop over in new york and not to bad times from manchester

Hope that helps

or if you dont mind gatwick you can go with BA for £1437 direct

With reference to the school holiday thread, I think this may no longer be an issue if things continue as they are. Sky high flight prices are no longer confined to the school holidays. I am going to enjoy this trip as if it is my last direct flight for a while. I think I will be creating an adventure trip in future by taking an extra day or two either side to get there - in whatever roundabout way this would require to maintain relatively reasonable prices. ;)

I know its a bit late but you have to book ASAP these days if you see a good deal, they often book up soon and dissapear:sad1:

Best deals I see
Heathrow Delta 1 stop Total price: £ 1,222.31 with Opodo, less a little cashback

Birmingham KLM/Martinair Total price: £ 1,263.40 again Opodo, also from BHX with Continental for only a few £ more probably better times. Similar from MAN

As Mart says Direct BA looks best price.

Only other option I see is BA direct from Gatwick to Tampa £ 1,278.00

Go from Gatwick and stay at a nice airport hotel the night before so you're not rushing about? It starts the holiday a day earlier!

Just a pain going from gatwick As I will not drive there so it means a coach or train and wth a 7 year old not good. Has anyone flown with continental? I am a bit worried about flying with anyone accept VA as only ever flown with them,:scared1:. Dont know whether to wait as it is a quieter time so I have been advised or book the one stop from birmingham.Hey mart nice to hear from you.:cutie::lovestruc:grouphug: and you wayne:hug:sound asdvice as usual.xx

hey crabbie, hello from wombourne
just wanted to duplicate others thoughts we have booked a nice hotel in london, cost of bb and parking is the same price as parking alone, so starting holiday a day early!!
journey home will be a nightmare as travelling straight up, but hey, comeing home will be hell anyway;)
we are flying AA for the first time as we have always travelled VH, however i cant justify the massive cost for 8 hours sitting down...kwim?
hope you manage to book soon

Hi

We flew with Continential a few years ago and I can honestly say they were one of the best airlines we have traveled with.:thumbsup2

Hope you get something booked soon:yay:

I am gettin a little frustrated as don't really want to stop anywhere:sad1: May have to just grit my teeth and accept it is going to be more expensive.I did wait till 4 months before a few years ago going 24th august with VAa nd got flights for under £1100. If I wait another month do you think they may come down:confused3.I am a paranoid flyer anyway and looked at BA but will need to check the boeing 777:scared1: Like jumbo's:love: Now I am being fussy. No point booking SSR till flights booked but then I have the worry of loosing the free dining plan and the 40% off.Why oh why did I not book earlier:rolleyes1

I really would be suprised if the virgin flights came down by much, its a risk and as you say if you save a little on the flight but then you have missed the free dining then you will be worse off. Bite the bullet and get it booked, you know you want to :thumbsup2

Shame you cant come the same time as us, Tracy's bringing champagne :rotfl2:

If I was you I would be very tempted with Continental, I know it depends on the plane and staff on the day but in recent years I have found the US carriers to be far superior to Virgin, to be honest I rate Virgin near the bottom of transatlantic carriers, only plus for them is direct. The last few Virgin planes we have been on were in serious need of some TLC.
Both our trips this year are indirect, Form Heathrow on Sunday with Delta via Detroit & August from Manchester, Delta again via Atlanta.

well as you both only live up the road, it would be cheaper for you to come round and drink it in the garden:lmao:
cant promise the pool from the pool party, or the weather, however the bar service is good and the champagne is deff cold:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

ps we live near billy buns!

The way the weather is at the moment be more appropriate to pop around for a cup of soup not a glass of champagne :rotfl2:

Have you booked it yet Crabbie :thumbsup2
