Shocked at Dis Member Behavior

I just dont get why the OP is shocked about Dis members, this type of behavior is not relegated to only non-Dis members, and these boards are proof of that

Ouch! I think we've just been insulted.

I guess I just thought that because the Dis is a very tight and respectable community, that all players hailing from it would act the same way in game that they do on the boards.

I was proven wrong.

Not everyone on the DIS is respectable. Don't be fooled.

Getting the Boot-

Alot of people are offended by being booted, when they should not be.

Reasons for the Boot:

1. Players are playing with a group of friends
a. pre set teams
b. playing friendly
2. Player(s) can not play with more than 2 on 2 or 3 on 3

3. Player was rude and the game starter does not wish to play with them anymore or just does not wish to play with that player

I am sure there are more ...not every boot should be taken personally.
Exactly. And remember, if someone boots you, all it does is anger people if you keep trying to join.

Without reading about friendly pirates on the disboards, I would not have understood why people choose to boot. I don't think people rejoin to annoy others, they just think something happened that accidently knocked them out. I know this was the case with DH's experience of being booted from the game.

We need to be more tolerant of others who may not know the rules you are playing by.

Well, I can understand a single rejoin but if they join every time I boot them, I want to EXPLODE! xD

Most of the time I get booted, I understand the reason. Like the reasons that Maleficent2 stated. But it's the ones that boot me, then continue to say "One more player please! Need one more player!" after they boot me, that kinda tick me off. But I keep my mouth shut and go to another room and try to find a game there. Although I'm such a bad player, I try to get in a few practice games with only AI players first before playing against real people.

Booting was never the problem for me. It's just that people got mad when I beat them with the Pearl in ship battle, and called me bad names.

I got booted from a DIS members game once. Do I need to have "(Dis)" in my VMK sig to be able to play?

No, re-read Mal's post. If there are even number of players playing friendly
pirates, and you're joining a game, you'll get booted. That's an example
of why a boot can happen from otherwise "nice" people. You have no way
of knowing that teams have been set up already. So if you get booted,
just find another game. That's what I do when I'm booted. :)

But this topic isn't about being booted. It's about Dis users' foul language in game, which I am still suprised at, but according to doc, shouldn't be.

I have been treated rudely by a couple of people on DIS, but not many. I have had the worst experience with people on VMKingdom boards. One of them booted me from a room because I was not "of ears" to sit at her bar (should we really be having bars on VMK anyways?!). Oh well, just a small rant. Overall I find DIS people friendly and helpful, but like many have said, just because they are on DIS doesn't mean we are all trustworthy and nice. (If that makes any sense its a miracle.)
