My seven year old has seen the commercials for these old movies and has decided this is her number one Christmas gift she wants! (And asked Santa for them) I don't think I've seen any of them. Any suggestions as to which would be the best for her?

My favorite Shirley Temple movie is Captain January but I love all of them.

You can't go wrong with any of her movies, they're all good. I do like "The Little Colonel".

She did a version of Heidi and The Little Princess, both have other versions that seem to be more popular.

I prefer the WB version of The Little Princess, usually sold in a combo with the Secret Garden. Disney has a version of Heidi. Pollyanna is a great movie as well by Disney. The American Girl series are good short movies.

Great choice! Love, love the older movies because they are all good family movies. I can't think of a bad one in the group.

She didn't do a version of Heidi, she did the original!:thumbsup2

I love Shirley Temple.::yes::

It drives me nuts when they do specials concerning the most famous child stars and she is not one of them!

I loved the Shirley Temple movies as a kid! The Little Princess was my absolute favorite, and I definitely second Heidi as well. The Littlest Rebel is another good one - unless the Civil War stuff is more than you want to explain. And maybe Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm?

I have always loved all her stuff. It is good wholesome entertainment. I think Heidi and the Little Princess are nice. I even liked the few she did as a teenager!

A Little Princess

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm

Bright Eyes

The Little Colonel

Curly Top

okay basically anything before she hit the teen years, by the time you get to the Bachelor and the bobby soxer or fort apache you've lost the little kid appeal.

The Little Princess
Bright Eyes (the song On the Good Ship Lollipop is in this one)
Curly Top (the song Animal Crackers in my Soup is in this one)
The Little Colonel (trivia: Bill "Bojangles" Robinson dances with Shirley in this one; she was the only white star he was permitted to dance with since she was a child)

There isn't a bad one in the bunch.

Heidi is my absolute favorite Shirley Temple movie. When I was in grammar school they showed it at school every Christmas, lol.
Love The Little Princess too.
Now I'm wanting to watch all these again!!

Too hard to pick! I have been a fan all my life, used to watch them on WPIX (channel 11 in NYC). I had been eyeing the movies for years, but I wanted them in B&W, not colorized (sorry, I am a purist). They finally had a set that had them in both B&W and color!! DH and the kids got them for me last year at Costco :lovestruc.

You can't go wrong with any of them :).

Those commercials got my daughters wanting the DVDs also. We found the DVDs at Half Price Books. I forgot what we paid but I remember it being a lot cheaper than ordering them.
