anyone ever try these? are they a good sub for regular pasta?
I saw it on Dr. Oz, i looked for them at the local grocery but didn't find any.
just wondering what they taste like.

I like them - at my grocery store they are in the produce section near the other tofu based products. I like to 'slurp' my noodles so I don't notice a difference if I am eating the way I normally do. If I chew the noodles, I can notice a difference in texture than regular noodles. I use the seasoning packets from ramen noodles in them for extra flavor.

Be forewarned. They really, *really* stink. You need to put them in a collander and rinse and dry them thoroughly before using them. If you can get past that point, you're good to go. They pretty much are tasteless and will be okay in a sauce. They have a more rubbery/chewy texture to them than real pasta, but you can't beat the calorie count.

I saw it on Dr OZ too while I was in a waiting room, but missed what they were made of and why they were better for you.

All I saw was 5 bowls equals 1 bowl of regular noodles. Was he meaning calories?

I did notice the lady was only eating a tiny amount & letting the rest fall back into the bowl. Made me wonder how they really tasted. ROFL

I have been trying them out all year and have decided they don't work for more Italian style pasta dishes but they work well for Asian style dishes and in soups. They are okay with spaghetti sauce on them but it takes some getting use to. If you can not have regular pasta at all these can somewhat fill the bill. I like them stir fried best. If you prep them properly the smell goes away and they do not taste like they smell.
I researched them a little bit and found pictures of the plant that they come from. The plant reminded me of another that I had seen which also smells. You can look into it if you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will remember to rinse, I think if I can find them I will try them.
