DW wants details from people who have shipped trees and decorations/gifts down before your trip. How far in advance did you ship it? Approx. how much did it cost to ship a tree to WDW? Would it be easier to stop at Walmart on the way down and pick up a small pre-lit tree, or should we pick one up on the after Christmas sale this year and store it til we need it? She's already planning to take stockings with some stuff already in them and pick up last minute Disney items like pins and trinkets for the kids. How do you hang stockings? I can't imagine using thumb tacks like we use at home. How do people hang lights in their room windows, suction cups? Whoever has pics of their decorated room please post pics. We've got just a little over a year to do all the planning and we could use any help you can pass out. We'll be broke and crazy by this time in 2008. :confused3

Here's the basics on shipping to your resort..

Don't ship it through the Post Office... Here is why... The US Post Office does NOT recognize Disney streets, any and all mail being sent to Disney through the US Post Office will go to the PO Box (regardless of how you address it) as the post office does not deliver to Disney directly. From the PO Box it is sorted into sections and then specific locations before it is delivered out to property. This can take quite a bit of time.

UPs, Fed Ex, DHL, any kind of courier service will deliver directly to the hotel. My suggestion would be to get the package ready and send it out about 7 days prior to your arrival (you can send it further out if you like they will hold it). If you give yourself enough time you can ship it ground service which is the cheapest.

As for who to address it to you would want to address it like this:

The name of the person who is the LEAD name on the reservation (may not be you, but it is easier to find that way)
C/O the hotel you are staying at/ Front Desk
The address of the hotel
And put HOLD for guest check in and the date (you can put the res # too if you want, but it is not really needed).

So it would look something like this

John Smith
C/O Disney's Wilderness Lodge Front Desk
Hold for guest arrival 4/02
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Fl 32830

Here is a list of the resort address' (again this can ONLY be used for courier services, US Post office will not deliver to the property directly)

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours CanadianGuy & CDSTapisRouge:thumbsup2

Ship the box so that it arrives one to two days before you arrive.

We ship through UPS. Depending on how big our box is the cost is usually around $20-30.00. It's soooo much easier to ship down the stuff ahead.

Address the box as:
Your Name Here
C/o The Disney Resort you are staying at
Attention: Bell Services
Check in Date XX-XX-XX
Address
Town, State Zip code

We usually put our lights out on the balconey. Make sure you pack an extension cord. We also ship down a timer with all the stuff. Sure is cool to come home at night and have the Christmas lights on. :thumbsup2

Pack a roll of shipping tape in the box so that you can use the box to ship the box back. The front desk of the resort will not give you packing tape and there is none for sale in the gift shops.

Have a great trip!

that works, but i have ordered through amazon.com multiple times and since the address is limited, this is the format I use:

either:
FIRST NAME LAST NAME - RESERVATION # xxxxxxxx - MM/DD

or:
FIRST NAME LAST NAME - ROOM xxxx

then in company name
C/O RESORT NAME

and the address. works perfectly. CBR even delivered the package to my room while i was at the parks.
